After hiatus from LinkedIn for several months, I think this is the time I’m promoting one of my team best work on advocating Circular Economy in our investment area. What is advocating? Advocating is not always “butt heading” with our opponents to fight what’s right. Advocating can be educating, empowering, and encouraging with robust justification as our arguments. What we should provide during advocacy? Well the important parts is our understanding of the content that we want to discuss in many point of view, whether its from regulatory perspective, research, and field observation. We should be prepared and mitigated not just a win-win solution, but also a win-lose solution. We should be ready to compromise. I’m proudly saying that Sheila Syafira Maharani has achieved her milestone on advocacy. Advocacy - as well as advocating, can be an abstract concept if we only learn by theory, however it can be an interesting activity because it keeps our knowledge fulfilled with various perspectives from multi stakeholder. 🌏EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations) in Australia are getting more traction. In Europe and Japan EPDs are an established concept, US are scaling up EPDs due to the Inflation Reduction Act. In a new report, Michael Goldhaber emphasizes that shareholder advocacy must have real-world impact, and not just settle for aspirational reports. Traditionally, corporate reform efforts have focused on "#stewardship" or "#engagement," pushing for shareholder resolutions or lobbying companies on environmental and social (E&S) issues. However, these campaigns often set low goals and consider minimal achievements as success. Michael explains that true success ought to be measured by tangible changes that benefit the environment and society. E&S stewardship campaigns should focus on real outcomes and be evaluated accordingly. #Shareholder advocates can make a difference by reinforcing pressure from the media, consumer activists and union organizers.
