Women's Health Advocate | Strategic Consultant 🌍 | Expert in Strategic Planning, Implementation & Team Synergy 🚀 | 20+ Years Champion for Equity & Positive Organizational Impact💡
Last week, I had the opportunity to attend two fantastic conferences: the Women's Health Innovation Series in Boston and the Women's Venture Summit (Stella Foundation) in San Diego. So many great people, conversations, and ideas. One major difference (besides the weather)? A lot more hats in San Diego! Here are some Big Ideas I took away from both events: 💡 Collaboration is key – It's so important that we continue talking to each other and collaborating. It’s no longer "one uterus for every 10 prostates" – there’s room for all of us to succeed. We’re all in this together! 💡 We are not mini-men (or in my case a large not-man) – Physically, psychologically, or emotionally. We’re prepared for solutions that look different from what works for men. In healthcare, this means we need more research and education. In business, it’s about finding new ways, blazing new trails, or following established paths that work for us. 💡 Women in business make money! We are constantly asked to make the business case—why women, why this, why now? Well, women are 52% of the population and drive 70-80% of consumer purchasing. THAT is why! Feeling energized by the insights and possibilities ahead! #WomensHealth #Innovation #WomensVentureSummit #WomenInBusiness #HealthcareInnovation #Collaboration #WomenLeaders #BigIdeas #WomenInHealthcare

More women than ever are starting new businesses. Over 140,000 all-female founded companies were created last year, and this figure is growing by over a third each year. Although this shows progress, there is still much work to do to support female founders ♀🤝🏼 Our Ambitious Essex Innovation Accelerator was created to support female founders and innovators, and the first session of this programme took place on Monday 4th March 💥 It was an engaging and interactive event, with lots of insightful participation from attendees 💡 Speaking of the event, of the attendees said: "It was fantastic - more than I expected. Many topics were straight to the point and the group was just right. You could freely ask questions and it was very interactive, which was very helpful in many ways. The network also helped me with some really good insights/ideas and connections for my business/project - I highly recommend this program." ASIA ISV Partnership Lead - Healthcare & Public Sector @ Microsoft | Business Strategy | Speaker | Diversity Champion | Mentor
🌟 ready to launch 🚀 I'm excited to share a new initiative that's close to my heart and aligns perfectly with my experience in #HealthTech and my passion for supporting underdogs in this dynamic industry. Over the past number of years, I've had the incredible opportunity to work closely with healthcare startups, engaging in meaningful conversations with universities, accelerators, and inspiring women founders. These interactions have been truly eye-opening, revealing both the immense potential and the significant challenges faced by women in healthcare. One thing is clear: many women in healthcare face unique challenges—funding gaps, limited support, and a need for mentorship—leaving many women founders asking, "What now…?" Health Innovators Circle is here to change that. We’re building a curated community to empower women founders in health across Australia and New Zealand, beyond the accelerator stage, with peer support, accountability and mentorship, and resources to accelerate growth. By fostering a resilient network built on shared experiences, collective wisdom, and mutual encouragement, we're working to change the statistics and create more success stories in this field. I'm especially excited to partner with Paz Saavedra on this journey! Our shared passion for supporting women in healthcare, along with her incredible expertise in product strategy and design, makes her the perfect ally in this mission. If you know any inspiring women healthcare founders looking for a supportive community to help them scale and sustain their operations, or you yourself are interested in helping elevate these incredible women achieve their goals, please reach out! #WomenInHealth #HealthTech #Innovation #HealthInnovatorsCircle #FemaleFounders #WomeninAI #WomeninHealthTech Annie Luu | Annie Liao 🇦🇺 | Dr Amandeep H. | Matthew Frith | Shuba Paheerathan | Jo Ioannidis 🧬 | Brett Gordon | Mani Sahihi | Lucy Lin | Emily Casey

We have made it to Women's Health Innovation Series' FemTech and Consumer Innovation Summit in New Jersey! Two days of emphasizing about the importance of innovation and progress in women's health and sharing the challenges founders have experienced in this field have been both inspiring and frustrating. You can ask any woman about any aspect of their health and you will hear the same story - being ignored, not being supported, being lost and not being taking seriously. Their stories led to the boom of "FEMTECH" - a whole industry dedicated to change the norm and close the gender gap. Yet, there seems to be another story that is on repeat. Women who have taken charge and developed innovative products to tackle these issues are now out there and doing what needs to be done; however, their stories still remain the same - being ignored, not being supported, being lost and not being taking seriously. What this event does prove though is that women have two superpowers - resilience and empathy. It was such a joy to meet female founders who are so passionate about their work and are choosing to keep going every single day. Throughout their stress and constant struggles they also choose to help fellow founders to make sure that women's health is constantly progressing one way or the other. Shout out to the organisers of the event Aoife McGrath (Eefa) - it was great seeing you again. Very happy to have met many amazing femtech founders, especially the girls who took me out to dinner yesterday Maria De Santis, Amy Buckalter, McCall Brinskele, Leslie Feingerts, Rachel Braun Scherl, Jane Merten, Shagun Maheshwari - the dinner conversation will be one to remember. So many connections were made and it is exciting to see the collaborations that will flourish beyond the pond! Woost is always welcoming new partnerships. Let's rise together 🚀 #femtech #womenshealth #femalefounders #pcos #menstrualblood #beyondthepond #collaborations #letsstandtogether

We’re helping women build one another up 💪 Partner Joyce Tong Oelrich recently joined client Aavia co-founder Aagya Mathur, along with other female founders to discuss exciting opportunities in the women’s health and femtech space. Thanks to Rebecca Minkoff, Alison Koplar Wyatt, and The Female Founder Collective for bringing together so many brilliant founders to share their experiences building women's health companies from the ground up in our New York office. ✍️ Here’s what we learned: 💡Traditional “women's” issues are now recognized as everyone's issues, and building infrastructure for these issues can lead to early investment opportunities. 💡Consider non-traditional funding sources – government funding and family offices – because venture funding may not be the best fit for most companies. Non-dilutive funding may be the best bang for your buck at your stage of growth. 💡Innovators face challenges convincing healthcare stakeholders they can create cost savings, especially in a complex industry like healthcare with reimbursement codes and incentives. Find influential doctors who can serve as marketing channels. 💡Foster meaningful relationships with investors, remember that investors may not even understand the basics of women’s health while demonstrating your solution and the size of the investment opportunity, market demand, and product-market fit. Keep an eye out for more programming for female founders and funders during NY #TechWeek in June! #Femtech #Innovation #Womenshealth
