Fatality Free Friday is tomorrow, Friday 31 May 2024. The initiative operates on the belief that if we can go one day without a death on the road, we can demonstrate the impact a focus on road safety can have every day of the year. But why choose Friday? Over the last 33 years, the road fatality rate on a Friday is higher than any other weekday. Saturdays are statistically the worst day for fatalities, but a proportion of these are also associated with people’s behaviour, actions and travel choices on Friday nights that result in fatalities early on Saturday mornings. #RoadSafety #FatalityFreeFriday #AustralianRoadSafetyFoundation #TrafficSafety #CommunitySafety

National Highways launches T.R.I.P. (Top-up, Rest, Inspect, Prepare) summer safety campaign to encourage drivers to take simple precautions when jetting off on summer holidays. The advice has been designed to help keep you and your loved ones safe and avoid any unnecessary delays or costly repair bills. Before setting off, they urge you to: ☑ Make sure you get a good night's sleep before your trip ☑ Avoid alcohol the day before as this can disrupt sleep and affect your driving the following day ☑ Know what medications you're on and how they affect you ☑ Avoid driving between midnight and 6am when you’re likely to feel most tired For further advice, click here: https://lnkd.in/eTP4zm7g #TRIP #RoadSafety #NationalHighways

Spring is finally in the air 🌸, and this morning's dog walk 🐕 was a vivid reminder of the beauty that this season brings. This seasonal change isn't just a signal for nature to come alive; it also brings about important considerations for us as drivers 🚗. The transition from winter ❄️ to spring, while beautiful, can present unique challenges on the road. Here are a few tips to ensure safety and preparedness during this change: 1. Pothole Precautions: The freeze-thaw cycle of winter can wreak havoc on our roads, leaving behind potholes that can damage vehicles 🕳️. Stay vigilant and slow down to avoid them when possible. 2. Wet Weather Driving: Spring showers 🌧️ bring May flowers, and also slick roads. Ensure your tires are in good condition and always maintain a safe following distance, especially on wet pavement. 3. Increased Activity: With warmer weather, expect more pedestrians 🚶♂️, cyclists 🚴♀️, and even animals 🦌 to be out and about. Keep an eye out for them, especially in residential areas and near parks. Embracing the season means more than enjoying the aesthetic delights it offers; it's also about adapting to its challenges. As we enjoy the beauty of spring, let's also ensure we're taking the necessary steps to keep our roads safe for everyone. #insurancebroker #roadsafety #fleetmanagement #driversafety
