"Democracy is a government of the people, by the people and for the people"
- The 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln.
Continuing with current President Joe Biden will be strategic in some ways and a gamble in others if the popular vote is not the only consideration for electing the next President of the United States. However, a key question is a thought-provoking question concerning the elections raised by Republican incumbent former president Trump. Trump has said he will accept fair results. This creates difficulty for the electoral process in the United States. For the naysayers doubting EVMs, it's time to turn back the time machine and remember the butterfly ballots in 2000. Who can ensure free and fair elections? What about disinformation campaigns and external influence? Doubting the veracity and validity of elections is a dangerous trend for any democracy, anywhere in the world. Is democracy really on the decline in the US? So many questions, but no answers, save one: The essence of a democracy is the freedom to choose. Taking choices away has consequences.
