“What is the story of St. Patrick’s Day?”
It’s a question I probably ask myself every year. Every holiday has some kind of origin story, but some seem to stick more than others.
St. Patrick’s Day seems to be an excuse for adolescents to pinch each other, people who love green to celebrate their favorite color, the Irish to proclaim their heritage, and those who like to drink to do so in excess. And even those who aren’t Irish get in on the celebration (see the video of my three-year-old grandson delivering the line his father taught him on St. Pat's Day).
According to history.com, “St. Patrick’s Day observes of the death of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. The holiday has evolved into a celebration of Irish culture with parades, special foods, music, dancing, drinking and a whole lot of green.”
It appears the music, drinking, dancing, and a whole lot of green were not in the original story of St. Patrick but were the evolution to the holiday in present times.
Think about the stories of your business and your corporate culture. Are they clear enough that the purpose will last? Or will they evolve over time into something that drifts from the original meaning?
I teach people that when they use stories to teach, lead, sell, and inspire, they need to start with the purpose of the story. What lesson are you teaching? What action do you want to inspire? What do you want people to remember and do after hearing your story?
If we aren’t intentional about our stories, they may become something other than what we originally intended. So, be sure to imbue your stories with purpose so people remember their meaning and they have the impact you intend.
Otherwise, you may end up with corporate legends that are different than you want.

Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone! 🍀
Today isn't just about donning green attire or enjoying a pint of Guinness; it's steeped in rich history and cultural significance. It's a day to celebrate the Irish culture, honor St. Patrick, and embrace the spirit of community and togetherness.
In light of the occasion, I've read an insightful article that delves into the fascinating traditions and origins of this beloved holiday, and I couldn't help but share some of the learnings (minus the link, of course):
📖 The article highlights how St. Patrick's Day transcends geographical boundaries and has become a global celebratory phenomenon, showcasing the indelible impact of Irish culture around the world.
🌍 It further investigates how cities across the globe celebrate with parades, cultural festivals, and a sea of green, turning famous landmarks into emerald beacons.
🇮🇪 Additionally, it sheds light on the life of St. Patrick himself and how his missionary work centuries ago continues to resonate and inspire.
🍀 Lastly, the piece emphasizes not just the joyous festivities but also the importance of recognizing and respecting the cultural integrity and roots of the holiday.
Whether you're Irish by blood or just in spirit, this article is a reminder of the rich tapestry of stories that shape St. Patrick's Day. It's a celebration of community, resilience, and the joy of shared heritage.
Sláinte mhaith! (That's 'good health' for us non-Gaelic speakers)

It was an honor and pleasure to work on these audits for LEAF Global Arts Retreat and the 2023 Colorado Creative Industries Summit. The reason I love doing this work with Majestic Collaborations is the juicey overlaps of The of Mass Gatherings four pillars: accessibility, safety, sustainability and community engagement.
These overlaps help frame how I look at the overarching questions for these events: who are you accessible to, what is working and what are the next possible steps to make your event more accessible, user friendly, and inclusive.
In my mind, accessibility and community engagement go hand in hand, making your events more accessible means you can engage more people in your community. Accessibility and safety go hand-in-hand as well, your event can not be truly safe, unless it is safe fore everyone. So your safety plans need to address how to keep people with mobility, hearing, vision and cognitive disabilities safe. I like to say, build your safety plan around the specific needs of people with disabilities and your plan is 80% done.
Accessibility and sustainability...there are many ways to think about this. One is just what do we need to sustain the people who come to our events and work at our events? Another, how do we build this temporary city (what festivals are) that allows for easy, safe and engaged navigation that respects the land the events is on. And then just how do we build in accessibility and sustainability from the beginning, from the first time we go to make a plan for this year's event, instead of either ever being an after thought?
Thank you Performing Arts Readiness program for supporting this work and Majestic Collaborations giving me the opportunity to do this deep and rich work.

When Ian led this retreat last year, by day two I had to invite him back because it was just so rich. 🍰
I'm now part of Ian's fan club for sure just as Jamie Smart has been for 2+ decades 😍
Highly recommend you joining us for what promises to be a space of lightheartedness, depth, connection and transformation is always a very strong possibility (not promising that because I can't) 😆

You want to choose the RIGHT city to live in!
Here are a couple things you want to consider:
(1) What is the crime rate?
(2) What does the city have to offer? A downtown? Events? Festivals?
If you want your home value to boost, you have to look at the potential growth of the city! 🏙️

At 08:28PM I RACHEL WERSKY SHOULD NEVER HAVE TO ASK FOR A HAND OUT NOR BE DISPLACED FOR ANY REASON. EVICTIONS ARE UNCALLED FOR AND FIREWORKS SHOULD BE IMMEDIATELY ILLEGAL BECAUSE THE FIREWORKS ARE MAJORLY HAZORDOUS TO PEOPLES OVERALL HEALTH BECAUSE PEOPLE WHO ARE EMPLOYEES DESERVE TO WORK IN A NON HAZORDOUS WORK ENVIRONMENT. PEOPLE SHOULD NEVER BE OFF OF WORK LATER THAN 23:00PM BECAUSE OF TRAVEL TIMES. CAR ACCIDENTS SHOULD BE LESSENED IN EVERY LOCAL AREA. WHY ARE EMPLOYEES NOT ALLOWED TO WEAR SHORT SLEEVE SHIRTS TO WORK INDOORS? THE HUMAN BRAIN WASN'T DESIGNED TO BE UP 24/7! PEOPLE NEED TO BE ABLE TO HEAL FROM LIFES KNOWN AND UNKNOWN AILMENTS!
I DIDN'T INVENT THIS MESSED UP AND WAY TO CONFUSING OF A PROCESSING SYSTEM FOR AN INJURED BRAIN TO FIGURE OUT.
I NEVER ASKED FOR INDOOR OR OUTDOOR SMOKE FROM ANY COMPANY THAT'S A BUSINESS BECAUSE A LOT OF PEOPLE AREN'T DESCRETE SMOKERS. IN MY CURRENT LIFE EXPERIENCE I NEED TO WORK AN AFTERNOON SHIFT. I NEVER ASKED FOR CHEMICALS IN MY FOOD!
HAVE A GREAT LIFE EVERYONE!
