Happy World Circle Back Day to all those who celebrate 🤪 Atlassian has called it: we're officially in #CircleBack season. The company that keeps so many of our wheels turning released some interesting insights last week after surveying 6,000 folks. Here's what they found: 🔄 1 in 5 projects will be pushed to 2025 🔄 1/3 of these will be abandoned entirely in the New Year Hold on a sec – what? A third of these projects will be discarded? 33% of work, just thrown in the bin? That raises an interesting question: if those projects could be dumped so easily, why were they worth doing in the first place? It can be easy to fall into the trap of saying yes to work without asking why or really considering the value of doing it (or not doing it). So today, if you find yourself saying "let's circle back in the New Year", consider if it's something truly worth picking up in January or if you're just kicking the can down the road for Future You to deal with. And if it really IS circle-back-able? Don’t just leave it in limbo. Put it in your calendar, your Monday or JIRA board, or your Notion list now. Future You will thank you for it 😉

Rovo was one of the main announcements during the Atlassian #Team24Europe. 🎉😜 As you can see in this case, despite not being very into it at the moment, our very good friend Jonas explains why this announcement had more impact and how the future looks for him regarding this new tech within the Atlassian products.🚀✨ Yes, we know. We already had Atlassian Intelligence, and it was a very good spoiler, but Rovo is a lot more, and we explain it in this blog post >> https://hubs.li/Q02V4DVz0

🧡 They say the real wealth these days is measured by how much time you spend with people you love. This made me reflect on our company's mission and purpose statement (see the pic). I have two issues with the current phrase (I made it up so I can critique it). ♦ We don’t talk about POTENTIAL Atlassian users, and that’s where the majority of inefficiencies are. ♦ We miss the point that we just want people to go home or finish work earlier, feeling fulfilled and elated, not drained and frustrated (it rhymes!). 👨💼 Our audience is the people who come to work on Monday after dropping their kids off at school, and now they need to remember what they did last week to submit their timesheets. 👨🏫 Our audience consists of young professionals who want to focus on their work, learn new things fast and not fight with the toolset their bosses told them to use. 👩💼 Our audience is their boss, who is desperately late for dinner with his mother-in-law because he is trying to export a gazillion user records to optimise the costs of their licenses. 👨💻 As Atlassian Marketplace and Solutions partners, we are in the forefronts and trenches with our users, hearing their stories and living through their days with them. 📈 I can attest that the innovations that Atlassian is pumping into their stack are truly changing the game for a lot of people, and it truly aligns with our purpose, but there is still so much to do and so many users to send home early! ❓ 💭 Perhaps a version of the mission statement we can explore can be: “Help people spend more time with their loved ones” ? 💝 PS: We can’t solve your relationship problems or put a word to your mother-in-law, sorry. #AtlassianCreator #Atlassian

This is the last week of the Summer of Atlassian. Special thanks to EVERY guest that volunteered to help me out. I appreciate you so much and I'll be making guest specific posts over the coming weeks. The last 100 days have been crazy. Let me give you some stats! New Subscribers: 2,300 Total Views: 374,000 Total number of videos uploaded: 64 full videos, 25 shorts The remainder of year will be a huge pivot. I'm going to be focusing on quality and less on quantity. Expect a lot less videos, but more in-depth, story driven videos. Goal: 50,000 subscribers before the end of the year.

Funny how decisions seem obvious after you’ve slept on them. “Do the right thing” in business means focusing first on customers, then employees, then shareholders. We landed on giving customers better ways to use, explore, and adopt new ways of working without feeling rushed into new services. Adopt at your pace, we’re here for help with the next steps when you’re ready. (Shouldn’t be novel, but seems like it). Our goal is to help evolving and growing organizations avoid the painful pitfalls in retooling operations and business systems BEFORE they break their operating model. Hoping for big growth? Most of us do, and we hope you succeed. But without first-principles based processes and systems setup, your sales success can kill a business not set for scale.
Don’t #@!% the customer! This is the Atlassian core value that was burned into my mind over a decade ago. I was reminded of it the other day while having a conversation around contract terms with my cofounder Toby Lucich. We were writing up the new contract for our upcoming ScaleKits launch and talking about when unused hours would expire. Our starting point? What would the customer want. Then we ran through all the reasons that would be bad for us. For each one, we played out the worst case and asked ourselves if we could live with that. We could, so we went with the one the customer would choose. Do right by your customers and you’ll do alright. In Atlassian’s case they’ve done far more than alright 😁🚀🚀🚀 Do you put the customer first? Share how in the comments!

Atlassian Team '24 is approaching, but before we get absorbed in the atmosphere of conference and evening parties, I want to hold your attention for a moment. I treat this platform as a space to share my professional work, experience, ideas, news and good practices. My posts contain a lot of joy from successes, excitement about new things, willingness to share knowledge, and admiration for others. But this time it's different. I believe that it is a real social network that can be a great support in difficult times. And such a difficult moment happened to my friend, Aleksander. On March 15, 2024, his father, Henryk, had a massive cerebral hemorrhage. He received quick help and spent almost 4 weeks in the hospital. His condition will deteriorate without proper care because he is immobilized by paralysis of the right part of his body and contact with the world is hampered by deep aphasia (communication problem). The only option at the moment is a professional rehabilitation center and three months of intensive therapy. After such help, there is a chance for a happy autumn of life and the joy of his father's well-deserved retirement. A parent's illness can turn the world upside down. The moment when their health no longer allows them to take care of us and the roles are reversed - we start taking care of them - is a very difficult experience. I know this from personal experience and I can imagine how difficult it is for Aleksander and his family now. I will be extremely grateful for all your support. If you can, resign from Starbucks coffee or ice cream today and donate this small amount to a fundraiser for Olek's dad. I assure you that this small gesture will brighten up their day, even for a moment, and bring a smile to their faces. You can find the link to the fundraiser in the comment. I hope that together we will collect the needed amount quickly. Impossible alone, possible together, right? 🙌
