Our senses shape how we experience the world. Whether it's the feel of the sun on our skin, the sound of a favorite song, or the taste of a comforting meal, our senses influence our emotions, thoughts, and actions. Sensory experiences are central to how we navigate the world. But each of us experiences sensory input differently. What might feel calming to one person could be overwhelming to another. Sensory Inclusive Schools is about understanding those differences and learning how to create environments where everyone can thrive. Reflect on your own sensory experiences. How do they affect your mood, productivity, or relationships? By tuning into our sensory lives, we can better appreciate the diverse sensory needs of others, especially in a school setting. Sensory Inclusive Schools is designed to be more than just a learning experience—it's an opportunity for growth and connection. Engage actively in the online forums and weekly drop-in sessions. These spaces are where we can share insights, ask questions, and support each other as we explore new concepts and strategies. Creating sensory-inclusive schools isn't just about making adjustments for a few; it’s about recognising and honoring the sensory experiences of all students and staff. It's about making our schools places where everyone feels understood, respected, and able to succeed. Together, we can make Sensory Inclusive Schools not just a learning opportunity, but a dynamic, evolving experience that meets the needs of everyone involved. Thank you for being here and for your commitment to making our schools more inclusive and supportive environments. I look forward to the conversations and discoveries we’ll share over the coming weeks. Let's make this a transformative experience—for our students, for our schools, and for ourselves. See you all in a drop-in soon! #teachers #teacher #educator #educators #school #schooks #inclusiveeducation #classroom https://lnkd.in/ef9pJzKf

🌟 October is Sensory Awareness Month! 🌟 In education, sensory processing challenges can show up in many ways, impacting how students interact with their environment, teachers, and peers. Every student processes sensory information differently, and it's important to create inclusive spaces where all learners can thrive! What can sensory differences look like in school? 🚶♂️ Difficulty sitting still (seeking movement or tactile input) 🧠 Trouble focusing or staying on task (easily overwhelmed by noise/light) 🤝 Challenges with social interaction (sensitive to touch or proximity) 🎧 Wearing headphones or seeking quiet spaces (needing sensory breaks) ✋ Avoiding certain materials or foods (sensitive to textures) How can you support students? Create quiet zones for students needing sensory breaks Provide sensory tools like fidget toys or weighted lap pads Use visual schedules and instructions for those who benefit from structure #SensoryAwarenessMonth #InclusiveEducation #SensoryProcessing #SensoryFriendlyClassrooms #Neurodiversity #EveryLearnerMatters

Delivering Successful EOT Claims & Unlocking Full Contractual Entitlements | Protecting Contractors from Penalties | CEO @ Aegis | Three Decades in Contract Management, Delay Analysis & ADR Support
The Humble Stick: A Symbol of Authority and Discipline Growing up in India, many of us have vivid memories of the teacher’s stick—a simple yet formidable tool that commanded respect and, at times, a bit of fear. This unassuming stick, often never used, was a constant presence in classrooms, symbolizing discipline, authority, and the unspoken promise of order. It was a huge deterrent, guiding us to toe the line, pay attention, and strive for excellence. The teacher’s stick, much like the lathi used by the police, served as a tool of control and influence. The comparison between these two might seem stark, yet they share a common essence—they are both symbols of authority. In the classroom, the teacher’s stick was not just about enforcing rules; it was a reminder of the boundaries within which we operated. It was about instilling discipline, a sense of right and wrong, and the importance of adhering to societal norms. The stick was a deterrent, but it also represented the teacher’s commitment to our growth and learning. What’s remarkable is that in India, a single policeman armed with a lathi can control a crowd of 100,000 people. This stands in stark contrast to heavily armed police forces in Western countries, like the USA, where officers can sometimes feel powerless in the face of unrest, despite their advanced equipment and weaponry. The teacher’s stick reflected a certain philosophy of deterrence and correction. They symbolize the effort to guide behavior through the presence of authority, often without the need for actual enforcement. Their mere presence often suffices to maintain order and compliance. As we move forward, the methods of discipline and control evolve, but the core principles remain. The teacher’s stick is now a part of our history, symbols of an era where authority was visibly and tangibly present. The stick remind us of the delicate balance between order and freedom, discipline and leniency, control and autonomy. The humble stick in the hands of the teacher was maybe an ode to the enduring power of simple tools in enforcing the complex fabric of societal norms and discipline. Would love to hear about a memorable (or should we say unforgettable?) encounter with the humble teacher's stick? Share your experiences below! #DisciplineAndAuthority #CulturalDynamics #ClassroomAndCrowdControl

🌟 Share this Video to Help Everyone Understand the Importance of Sensory Processing 🌟 Did you know that every single student—and staff member— has their own unique sensory system? This system plays a critical role in how we all move, focus, learn and interact with others. This new short video from Sensory Integration Education explains sensory processing in a simple, relatable way. It uses a beautiful analogy—comparing our sensory systems to an orchestra where the brain is the conductor, coordinating how all the different instruments (senses) work together. This is a concept that resonates with both adults and children, helping to make sense of the invisible ways sensory information impacts daily life. Let’s spread the word about sensory processing and build environments that support all learners. Share the video with staff, parents, and anyone involved in the care and education of children and let’s help create more sensory-inclusive schools! It’s back to school season- here are habits we need to break at students: -checking your phone every two seconds when studying ( I SEE YOU)👀 -asking people how a test went after finishing an exam ( leave them aloneee) -studying around friends you know will distract you -not doing your homework quickly or properly -staying up till 2 am (you claim to love sleep but you are not getting enough of it….?)🫠 -not asking for help during lessons(i.e suffering in silence) -lack of reflection after test results -not using active recall+spaced repetition (testing yourself in spaced periods over a long time) -thinking after mocks or a big test it’s too late to make an academic comeback💪🏽 Let’s make this academic year a better year and leave these habits behind us. What habits are you working on this year?
