Cramp Busters: How Physiotherapy Fueled Maxwell's Miracle Innings📢 📢But before we delve into Maxwell's miraculous 201 against Afghanistan, let's understand the enemy – muscle cramps😷. 📢Cramps are sudden, involuntary muscle contractions that cause intense pain and tightness. They can strike any muscle, but during intense exertion, leg cramps are common. When electrolytes get depleted or muscles fatigue, they can misfire, leading to these painful stoppers. 📢Here's where the physio swoops in. The physiotherapist likely assessed Maxwell's condition, looking for signs of dehydration or electrolyte imbalance. Techniques like massage, stretching, and even applying heat or cold could have been used to alleviate the cramps and improve blood flow to the affected muscles. 📢But physiotherapy goes beyond just muscle manipulation. The physio likely played a crucial role in motivating Maxwell, guiding him on how to manage the pain and adjust his batting style to minimize cramps. This might have involved teaching him specific stretches he could perform during breaks or even suggesting batting positions that required less running 📢Maxwell's story is a testament to both his grit and the often-understated role of physiotherapy in sports. While the big sixes and audacious strokes steal the headlines, the unseen work of the physiotherapist can be the difference between a whimper and a World Cup-winning wonder. MYTH BUSTER! A 2023 study shows that running will not wear out your knees. The study, involving 14000 runners and non-runners, has revealed intriguing findings on knee osteoarthritis development. Results: A. Non-runners experienced more knee pain compared to runners. B. Despite one study indicating a higher prevalence of osteophytes in runners, overall, no significant difference was found in knee osteoarthritis or cartilage thickness on MRI. C. The progression of arthritis requiring a knee replacement was lower in runners compared to non-runners. Conclusion: Running does not worsen knee osteoarthritis signs in the short term and might even act as a protective factor against knee pain as it improves the density of the cartilage. So, if you want to give it a try, but don't know where to start, then our team of brilliant physiotherapists will work with you to help you be successful and achieve your running goals. 🧠Why these 4 things create an environment for success ✅ Daily Workout Program: AClers who have the most success wake up everyday with a plan in place. They know each, and everyday, what they need to be doing to take the next step towards their goals. ✅ Accountability: ACLers who have someone to lean on when things get tough stick to their program more often. ✅ Thorough Testing: ACLers who have access to testing are less likely to have a set back from starting running, jumping, or sports too soon. It also allows for the creation of a more personalized daily workout program. ✅ Progress / Feedback: ACLers who know their progress are more consistent, and confident in their recovery journey. Getting feedback throughout the process allows them to feel confident they are performing at a high level. ⭐Follow and like this post if you found it helpful!⭐ #acl #aclrehab #aclrecovery #aclinjury #rehab #physiotherapy #strengthandconditioning #aclsurgery #aclreconstruction #acltear #aclclub #aclrecoveryclub #aclrepair #acler #aclsurgeryrecovery #aclsurgeryrehab #aclrehablife
