Meet your inner saboteurs! We all have traits that can be strengths or weaknesses. But when taken to extremes, our positive qualities can become self-sabotaging behaviors. Meet the 9 saboteurs that might be influencing your career and life: Controller: The micromanager in us all, seeking order but potentially stifling creativity. Hyper-Achiever: Always chasing the next goal, but never pausing to celebrate wins. Restless: Full of ideas but struggling with follow-through. Stickler: Detail-oriented to a fault, potentially lacking flexibility. Pleaser: Empathetic, but often at the expense of personal needs. Hyper-Vigilant: Highly aware, but prone to unnecessary anxiety. Avoider: Sidestepping conflict, sometimes at the cost of progress. Victim: Self-aware, but trapped in a cycle of negativity. Hyper-Rational: Brilliant in tasks, but potentially lacking in emotional intelligence. The trick isn't to eliminate these traits – they all stem from positive qualities. Instead, it's about recognizing when they're serving us and when they're holding us back. By understanding our saboteurs, we can harness their strengths while mitigating their negative impacts. "Decision-making is a habit, it's a skill. And if we think about it in that regard, decisions exist on a spectrum, right?" Habit formation is key to good decision-making: The quote outlines three crucial steps to form a decision-making habit: *Trigger: Recognize that you're facing a decision and acknowledge there are various possibilities. *Alignment: Evaluate your options and choose the one that aligns best with your goals and values. *Reward: Celebrate your decision, even if it's small. This reinforces the positive behavior and boosts your intrinsic reward system. Join Dr. Chris Lee and Becca in Episode 76 to dive deep into decision-making that is satisfying. Forget the "shoulds" and the "oughts." Forget the black and white, the win-lose mentality. We're going to explore the spectrum of possibilities that exist before every choice. We'll acknowledge the fear, the uncertainty, the shame that sometimes whispers "not good enough" when we face a fork in the road. Instead, let's lean into the courage it takes to be present with our values, our desires, and our whole messy selves. We'll learn how to align our actions with what truly matters.

This part of the conversation had me thinking about the observable rhythms in our career. Regulated periods of striking confidence, of being in your 'flow', juxtaposed with periods of uncertainty, rapid change and doubt. One thing I've learnt over the past few years about these rhythms is that almost always, despite the feelings of chaos or calm, I naturally focus on my weaknesses. This conversation with Laura Applebee-Jones reminded me of the power in remembering my strengths. Strengths aren't just something we should contemplate when performance time rolls around. Even then, it's often an awkward encounter with many wanting to gloss over them as quickly as they identify them. But rather, if we adopt a habit of frequently remembering our strengths, dwelling on them, basking in them, we may just find they bring clarity to those times of uncertainty. If you only do what’s comfortable, you’ll never grow! 🔥 Over the weekend, we had the privilege of hosting Anthony Trucks, author of Identity Shift, as the honored guest in our book club! 🤩📚 Anthony shared some game-changing insights on what it really takes to strengthen your willpower and elevate your mindset. Pushing yourself through discomfort strengthens the anterior mid-cingulate cortex — the part of your brain responsible for willpower and perseverance. 🧠 The more you lean into what you don’t want to do, the more you develop the mental muscles needed to take your life to the next level! 🔥 See the link in the comment below to listen to the full episode. 👇

How can we shift from tolerating a life we don't love to embracing acceptance and making the changes we might be afraid to make? When I talk about tolerance, I’m referring to enduring circumstances or situations that don't align with our desires and values. Even if you accept those circumstances, you do not have to tolerate them. In this episode, we’ll talk about the steps you can take to stop tolerating less than you deserve and accept yourself and your reality without judgment or resistance. Accepting yourself as you are is an important step toward living the life you want. "These concepts can carry significant implications for our well-being and overall happiness. Understanding these differences can empower us to embrace the things we love about our lives AND to have the courage to make changes to the things we don’t love." What you'll learn in this episode: - The difference between accepting your reality and tolerating a life you don't love - How acceptance helps us recognize that our thoughts and feelings and actions are the only ones that we have control over - Four strategies that will help you make the change you might be afraid of - The many ways that self-acceptance will change your life for the better "Remember, accepting your current reality doesn't mean settling for a life you don't love. It's about acknowledging where you are and using that awareness as a catalyst for change, if you decide you want it." It’s the perfect time to do this work with me in a group setting and I would love to have you join us! Visit my website to schedule your consult today.

You cannot rise beyond the quality of your thoughts. The simplest way to change your life is to change your thoughts. I heard Sam Adedeji share this in one of His messages and I resonated so well with it because I have experienced this for myself and it can be applied to any aspects of your life. What you think of yourself is a crucial determinant to the opportunities you see and receive. Many times what we think is the problem is not usually the problem but how we are seeing the problem. I always tell my Clients this- there are always options out of every challenge we face, until you recognize this, you will be stuck in life. What’s my point in all my saying? Pay attention to your thoughts, check if they are empowering you or disempowering you. Your mind also a powerful resource and until you understand how to leverage its powers, you will remain stagnant in life. Till next episode MrzSparkles the Lighthouse.

Ever wonder why your brain feels like mush after a day of picking out peanut butter, replying to texts, and resisting those checkout aisle Reese’s Cups? Turns out, you’re making around 35,000 decisions a day. From swiping through potential dates on the toilet (hey, no judgment) to deciding if that captcha is a seal or a traffic light, it’s no wonder by the end of the day you’re ready to call it quits. This non-stop decision-making is known as ‘decision fatigue,’ and it’s probably draining more than just your energy. In this episode, we’ll explore how all those little choices add up, leaving you mentally tapped out—and more importantly, how to fight back with some simple strategies. 👇 https://lnkd.in/eHgr8KWF

Let’s talk about rejection and assumptions. I recently heard an incredible talk by Dr. Marisa Franco, friendship expert and New York Times bestselling author of “Platonic.” She said, “When you fear rejection, you tend to reject others, which causes you to get rejected.” BOOM. So I want you to think about how that plays a role in your life right now. Do you fear getting rejected by potential clients? Do you fear getting rejected by a partner? Friends, family members, a random person at the store, someone you want to ask a question of but are a little nervous to ask and so you just reject them or don't put yourself out there in the way that you know that you could and then you get rejected because you're putting out these funky vibes. Look at how you are fearing rejection. How is that playing a role in how you are communicating and how your energy is going out? Do you not make enough invitations and offers? Do you play it safe? Do you not ask the question? That’s what we’re diving into on this episode of Coach Magic. Buckle up and let’s go.
