Housing is at the forefront of the National Planning Policy Framework today as the new Government announces it is bringing back mandatory housing targets - the number of new homes being planned will rise to 1.5 million over the next five years. This raises important questions and challenges for planners and the built environment profession. Join us this Autumn for our conference - The Future of Housing : A Planning Perspective - where you will hear from a wide range of expert speakers, best practice case studies and share knowledge to discuss this vital issue for planning in Yorkshire and the country. #planning #housing #growth #housingtargets #hottopics https://lnkd.in/eQpqTkpZ

We at CWA and CES understand how important real qualitative data can be when working on all urban planning solutions. Studies can point to evidence that support their findings however, when it comes to every day life, it is just as important to review actual examples of how well the implementation of learned policies worked. This is why we'd like to share the following information surrounding the Michigan Association of Planning's Zoning reform references and solutions. Specifically the "Zoning Reform Stories and Studies Toolkit that covers how planning staff, planning commissioners, municipal managers, zoning administrators, and even an elected official or two from 22 communities sat down with MAP and talked frankly, seriously, and technically about housing in their communities." 📜🏢 Yesterday, I visited the Surrey Heath Borough Council to gather information on an old planning application. 🕵️♂️ While some local planning authorities have only uploaded their records on the online planning portal up to a certain point—in Surrey Heath's case, up to 2006—you can still access older planning application information by visiting the Council Offices. They will set up a computer for you to view the necessary documents at no cost. 📚💻 Although downloading the information isn't permitted, you can take notes and photos, which is very convenient 📸📝 #land #planning #propertydevelopment #surrey #sempreproperty

Just completed BC Housing On-Demand webinar on affordable housing challenges for smaller communities. Does your local government have a strategy to go along with the provincial mandated zoning regulations? Does your community have Rapid Assessment Infill task force for missing middle housing permitting or a Housing Authority? Please let me know where your LG has or is developing a strategic plan beyond OCP & Zoning changes, particularly in the area of little "a" affordable housing - suites, adu's and small scale multi unit development. #localgovernment #affordablehousing #strongtowns #smallhousingbc
