“It’s time that our leaders understand what women and families have grasped for decades: Care is an issue that affects everyone.” It’s also an issue we can do something about—and leaders can start by investing in affordable caregiving solutions. Here’s what that could look like, according to Renee Kuriyan Wittemyer, Pivotal’s VP of Program Strategy. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gmNQQTmZ

The sisters of Confessions of a Reluctant Caregiver stand beside you in advocating for solutions to respond to the care crisis. We use our platform to educate the community at-large about the caregiving crisis in the US and beyond. We strive to reach the greatest number of individual, businesses and organizations worldwide to positively impact caregivers of all ages. Caregiving issues are business issues but it will take everyone, across sectors - government, for profit and nonprofits to tackle the crisis of care. We would love to share more about the work we’re doing, in collaboration with organizations worldwide.

Renee Kuriyan Wittemyer #preach. It's such a complicated and broad issue that requires such huge changes but absolutely: #CareCantWait. We (the collective we) also need to expand what we mean when we talk about #childcare. Too often that word is used for the bucket of care focused soley on "the littles". BUT BUT BUT......... Any Parent will tell you: Childcare doesn't end with daycare graduation. The costs just move to something else and arguably gets more complicated but none less costly. 60% of working parents in the US have kids school aged. If you take childcare benefits alone--if even offered--that's usually for daycare or backup care/sitter discounts. This leaves a HUGE portion of working parents to shoulder this financial and professional impacts. All the while essentially paying for the right to have a job. The #mommytax. This is exactly why EnrichedHQ exists. Not to solve the entire crisis but to play a role in supporting families with school-age kids through expanded care options for ALL families. And oh, giving kids from all over and all communities equal access to LIFE SKILLS programs that prepare them for their futures is core to our mission. Let's not forget the older kids too and their parents. 🙏

I believe male-controlled C-Suites' laser focus on the 'bottom line' still views the cost/benefit of 'caregiving' as exorbitant, not necessary for their male counterparts within the corporation; hence unnecessary... I imagine a 'top-to-bottom' female C-Suite & Corporation would differ... EmpathyEqualsJustice.com (Four Pages - Three Minute Read) A women-led social networking company advocating for 'Reproductive Freedom' in which registered users are signatories to what is essentially an 'interactive petition' towards a lofty goal. The Goal: 'As a community, we believe that all cases before the Supreme Court related to 'Womens Reproductive Health' should solely be decided by the female justices of the court while the male justices abstain or recuse from such cases; differing and entrusting their female counterparts to determine the constitutional merit of each case for their fellow 'sisterhood' in the citizenry.'... It could be argued this movement is: 'Of Women, By Women, For Women.'... But I would argue this movement is: 'Of the People, By the People, For the People.'....

I guarantee you, that 99% of the men who have creates this culture of woman based caregiving, rely on the women in their own lives to provide nurturing childcare and compassionate eldercare within their own family dynamic. I quit my corporate career to raise my children, then became a caregiver for my 92 year old mother. It was never discussed because in the Asian culture we honor our elders. Unfortunately. My 1/2 white children "can't deal" with the issued of old age and have already stated they will not care for male should I become incapacitated. Change must owdmeate every level of our me-centric society.

Ladies what are you going to do about this 👇🏼 all this “woman empowerment” and yet you can’t keep a family together or or husbands https://www.forbes.com/sites/laurabegleybloom/2020/07/29/best-worst-countries-raise-family/

Renee Kuriyan Wittemyer absolutely right. Every woman and family has their own story about this - high-quality, accessible, affordable childcare and care for relatives is not a luxury, it’s essential to strong families, communities and economies. The current system is not working but solutions are not out of reach and change is already starting to happen. Thank you and Pivotal Ventures for your advocacy and leadership. I’m feeling hopeful ☀️
