Counseling Psychologist + Arts-Based Therapy Practitioner
It's been 3 years of me being a mental health practitioner and I've learnt so much.
Around 10 days ago at a conference, I was asked to advise current postgrad students. Here's what I want them to know about our profession:
1/ Grow a spine.
I say this with a lot of love and seriousness. As someone who didn't want superiors to disapprove of me, I would think a hundred times before speaking up.
When I was put in my first job, I realised that I wouldn't survive if I didn't voice my opinions out. You will need to advocate for yourself and others. It is a privilege and a responsibility.
2/ You will be tested in ways you don't expect.
When you work so closely with others, please know that the way you view the world won't be the same. 2 weeks of working with underprivileged school children made me change my opinions about opportunity, privilege, and support, more than 7 years of psychology textbooks.
My work has made me build better boundaries, appreciate my loved ones, be more logical, and has done much more than I can ever put into words.
3/ Strengthen your support systems.
I wouldn't have done 3 years in the field if not for my loved ones and my routines. It's easy for us to assume that we'll be able to help ourselves considering that we help others.
But there is strength, power, and support in community. You can't do this alone. And for the love of God, get a hobby. Something that excites you enough to get out of work.
If you're an MHP, what would you add to this list of learnings? Let me know via comments/DM! 🔅
It’s been 1 year since Marga became Trademark Registered.
Back when we started in 2021, we had one studio, a small team and a few clients who believed in our vision.
Fast forward to today, we’ve grown beyond our imagination
- Expanded to 2 studios
- Built a team of 45+ individuals
- Trained 300+ interns in the field of psychology
- Supported 5000+ individuals in their mental health journey
It’s been an amazing journey but our mission is far from over. We have a long way to go to spread mental health awareness, support individuals, break stigma and train future professionals in this field.
Get a glimpse of our journey below :)

The path to an acceptance letter includes good academic performance, extracurricular achievements, and a strong personal brand. But what about the student behind the letter?
Mental health is not a side project, it is a foundation. Strong mental well-being allows students to put their best foot forward in their applications and interviews. Remember:
💪 Resilience matters, not just results. Share resources to make the application process easier can help prospective students feel more in control of the process.
📲 Open conversations about the college experience can help. Create stigma-free spaces where prospective students can access insights from your current students. (And TruLeague can help → https://truleague.com)
Let’s take a holistic approach to applicants’ mental health this year!

Remembering my WHY this week:
When I left teaching 3 years ago to chase the dream of starting my own company there were three big goals:
1. time freedom
2. getting out of a job that took a toll on my mental health
3. heal the world through writing...one woman at a time
This week has proven to me that all these things are possible.
1. My flexible work schedule ('cause I make my own schedule now!) has allowed me to spend HOURS this week getting the kids' summer schedules figured out. Camps registered for, cow show registrations and lodging arranged, work schedules complete. ✅
2. My mental health is SO much better. I am taking next week off to attend a Women's Healing Retreat in Puerto Rico....and I didn't have to ask off or write sub plans! 😁
3. My digital courses are entering the beta-testing phase and I can't wait to launch them to the world this fall! 📝
It feels good to look back on your goals and process how they are playing out.
What is a goal you have reached lately?
