International Museum Day 2024: "Museums for Education and Research" Probably my favourite day of the year. As an art historian with a deep passion for research and exploration, I've had the privilege of visiting a wide array of museums, primarily in Europe and some in Asia. What began as obligatory school trips evolved into enchanting adventures that I wished would never end. Studying in the Netherlands felt like being in Valhalla, with museums and collectors for almost everything. Detailing all my encounters would exceed any allotted space, so I'll highlight the key milestones. My journey began at CN College of Fine Arts, which led to an apprenticeship at a gallery where I learned the art of commercial paper conservation and map and print restoration. During my internship at the Bureau van de Staats Architect, I delved behind the scenes, gaining insights into record-maintenance systems. My thesis further explored this process and the digitization of such records, in the hope of making collections more accessible via the net. #Museums are magical places for the curious, offering #multidimensional insights into life and its myriad aspects. It's crucial to encourage #children to visit museums from a young age. Even now, I seize every opportunity to visit museums, always making new #discoveries. International Museum Day reminds us of the invaluable role museums play in #education and #research, #nurturing #curiosity and #fostering a deeper understanding of our #world. #musuemsrock #culture #knowledge

This week on By Amara, we’re switching things up! I’m answering your FAQ’s related to what it’s like to study art history. We’ll look at what you’ll learn in undergrad and grad school programs in art history. And some topics we’ll look at are: • What’s an art history thesis and will you write one? • What’s coursework like for an art history major? • How much and what kind of reading will there be while studying art history? • Do I need to learn a foreign language to study art history? • Is art history a difficult major? • What’s an art history thesis or capstone like? • Should I do unpaid or paid internships in the art history field? And more! 📺 Watch here: https://lnkd.in/g9_hC8Qw #podcast #arthistory #history #art #college #arthistorymajor #collegeadvice

Creative thinking has been recognised by the World Economic Forum Future of Jobs report 2023 as the number 1 skill on the rise. This is valuable in a rapidly changing, complex world where AI is transforming how we do things. Some jobs of the future do not even exist yet. Creativity is a key component of unlocking new solutions, being adaptable and resilient. It can be cultivated and I believe that Art Fairs are an environment that can help unleash the creative spark in all kinds of people. The Investec Cape Town Art Fair is one of the best places on the African continent to engage with that creativity. Being a part of not only observing art in its many forms but listening in on conversation and interacting with various parties really stimulates that creative flow. I was privileged a couple of months to be a part of that. This is the second part of that experience that I am sharing: https://lnkd.in/db3ET5ym In the midst of all that is on show, you are bound to find something that speaks to you and evokes awe and imagination. It gets you thinking of possibilities and ideas. You see differently. This is how you can stay relevant. As Forbes states, “In 2024, the ability to think creatively is no longer a nice-to-have or a quality reserved exclusively for entrepreneurs. Creative thinking skills are imperative if you want to remain in business, progress your career, drive innovation, and experience long-term fulfilment and success.” Creativity is for everyone. #mondaymotivation #art #creativity #creativethinking #futureofwork

Every year our students begin their art classes by making a collaborative mural that stays up for the whole year. Each child chooses how they would like to contribute. This year they explored variations in colour and experimented with decorating their own circle, a smaller piece of the whole. The result is pretty amazing! #projectbasedlearning #collaborativelearning #internationslschool #primaryeducation #elementaryeducation

Greetings! News editorials play a vital role in broadening our understanding of various political, economic, social and other policy issues. They challenge our views and shape our opinions. During my current internship with NITI TANTRA/ Policy, Politics and Governance Foundation (PPGF) under the mentorship of Ritwik Mehta, we compiled Op-Eds from 7th June to 16th June, mentioning all the suggested policy recommendations. P.S. I am attaching a copy for your reference. I hope you find it helpful! #PublicPolicy #Research

Earlier this week, the UK Government announced new changes to the immigration policy. Among the changes is an increase in the minimum salary to obtain a Skilled Worker Visa from £26,000 to £38,000 per year. The Home Secretary also mentioned that the government will reconsider the Graduate Route visa for international students, a visa loved by many foreign students to start a career in the UK without employer sponsorship. Whether we like it or not, international students are part of a migrant community and are also very vulnerable to immigration policy dynamics. The recent dynamic might as well impact the inflow of international students in the future. Previously, the government had a target to host 600,000 international students by 2035, which the number has been met in the last couple of years. It depicts that despite the expensive tuition fees for international students, UK higher education is still a preferable option for hundreds of thousands of international students every year. My first two cents about the economic benefits of international students in the West Midlands is now on City-REDI's blog. Give it a read to see how impactful the international students community is to the UK economy and let me know your thoughts regarding the new immigration policy changes! https://ow.ly/Y5gj50Qgkhb
Summer intern Dimas Almaruf presents the first part of a two-part series of blogs on the economic impact of international students in the UK. Part I sets the scene by providing the number of students in the region. https://ow.ly/Y5gj50Qgkhb

Education in the arts should happen everywhere at every age for everyone.
Congrats to my School of the Art Institute of Chicago colleague Romi Crawford for her new apprenticeship program at the MCA Chicago. NYT article quotes my former MA student, Corinna Krisch.
