If the word “challenge” could be drawn, the Suzuka Circuit would probably be it. The upcoming F1 race in Japan tempts me with analogies to business. When running a growing company, milestone-setting, strategic planning, and operational excellence are all givens. Yet there is always something we DON’T know and have not planned for, that goes wrong. In such situations, all we can do is put on our game face, and negotiate the unknown with skills derived from what we HAVE prepared for. That is why intense groundwork and gruelling preparatory sessions are crucial. With experience in pre-empting the unfavourable, to anticipating the bizarre—only a team with experience across business cycles, possessing diverse skill sets and lateral thinking capabilities comes up with a unique solution to a new challenge—Every. Single. Time. Ultimately, it's the team that navigates unpredictable twists with split-second accuracy that takes the podium! #GeraDevelopments #TeamEffort #TeamWork #LessonsfromF1

Last night, I was at the National Stadium watching ⚽️ the Singapore-China match. I found it hard to root for either side. Born in China and living in Singapore for the most part of my life, it was surprisingly still difficult for me to face their rivalry (albeit in a friendly match). I wanted to root for both teams. But cheering for one's success means being oblivious to the other's defeat. So I decided to cheer for something else. What stood out for me: 👏 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭 - 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐮𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭, 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐨𝐝𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 The Lion team was ranked 156th worldwide and China 88th. In their last encounter, China won by 6-1. When winning feels difficult, it's easy to lose heart. Such as, - 𝑇𝑜 𝑓𝑖𝑛𝑑 𝑎 𝑗𝑜𝑏 𝑖𝑛 𝑎 𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑒𝑛𝑔𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑒𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑜𝑚𝑦 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑙𝑎𝑦𝑜𝑓𝑓𝑠 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑦 𝑑𝑎𝑦. - 𝑇𝑜 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑎 𝑐𝑎𝑟𝑒𝑒𝑟 𝑏𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑘𝑡ℎ𝑟𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ 𝑤ℎ𝑒𝑛 𝑤𝑒 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑠𝑡𝑢𝑐𝑘 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑎 𝑙𝑜𝑛𝑔 𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑒. But in this game, the Singapore team pushed on. After the first half ended at China 2-Singapore 0, it only became braver and stronger. We were kept on our toes, literally. Singapore scored one goal, and then another! The perseverance is what took the team to a final draw. Resilience is 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲. 👏 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬 The Singapore team took a more defensive strategy initially, and a more offensive one swapping multiple players in the second half. In the last 10 minutes, the game went into a heated mode with both teams going all out, fighting for their last chance. 🏃🏃🏃🏃 Experimenting and pivoting are what make the difference when we push on. 👏 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 - 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐣𝐨𝐲 See video below! May we all have these gifts. 💪 The 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 to show up ✨ The 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗺 to keep going 🧪 The 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 to keep experimenting 🤗 The 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 and 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲 that enrich our lives Share in comments, what else would you like to 🥂 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 in life? #worldcup #resilience

Roboticist AI, Machine Intelligence enabling New Product Development into Manufacturing & Supply-Chain Operations
富不过三代。As just another very ordinary Singapore-born Singaporean Scientist Engineer in Singapore: essentially a Nobody, but ..... First - I like to congratulate MAX for bringing this wonderful 59th Birthday present to Singapore - Thank you very much. When Joseph Schooling won our Nation's 1st Olympics Gold in 2016, besides the congratulatory messages; at the back, many Singaporeans started asking if he was "brought" in like our Table Tennis players? It took a while for Schooling to "prove" he is indeed a heartland, homegrown Singaporean athlete. I found that episode unimpressive and unwarranted, anyone as Singaporean that wins for Singapore - Wins 🏆 From a Disruptive Innovation Theory perspective, Singapore has a Talent Program to bring in the Best to Win and continue staying with us as part of Singapore, that's very important - Disruptive Innovation. Now, my tagline, many LinkedIn connections questioned why I have to include "Singapore-born", just use Singaporean is more than enough. Some even gone over to criticize, I am xenophobic and rate those born outside of Singapore "second-class". As a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics STEM Learner, Practitioner, Researcher and Educator; Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences HASS is not my field of forte. But I wanted to represent another group of Singaporeans, myself as 2nd Generation, since my Grandparents came from China via Hong Kong 🇭🇰 in the early 1900s. 富不过三代。Our next-generation Singaporeans, and hence this group of us needs to apply Sustaining Innovation, how to continue growing for Economic and Societal relevancy. If this next-gen fails, this big group of us, will have to depend on imports for Survivability? And we know very well, from Disruptive Innovation Theory, Incumbents fit the classic textbook examples from Kodak, Nokia and perhaps Intel, all failed to accept Disruptive Technology and internally cannot Innovate. From Companies to Organizations and Countries, Disruptive Innovation Theory applies. I have mentioned strong Countries that colonized other societies between 15th and 18th centuries, most are in decline as past rulers. Therefore, The Theory applies: • Disruptive Innovation (Global Talents, Imports) • Sustaining Innovation (Heartlanders Innovate) • Efficiency Innovation (Singapore United) My Generation becomes to this Sustaining Innovation category, different techniques will be utilized to help this group of Singaporeans continue the Process Engineering. I hope this post helps to explain, why my tagging of this line, is actually for heartland Singaporeans, rather than looked upon with other perception. Disruptive Innovation is once in a lifetime (if they cannot do it, typical Singaporeans won't see them), while Sustaining Innovation is continuous; because the next Economic & Political cycle will feel it. Finally, I am Seeing What's Next with Robotics AI Technology, it is Disruptive, Sustaining and Efficiency all-in-one and this is FutureSingapore.

Today in Transportation History: 2020: The Formal Introduction of a Railway Station in Tokyo. A railway station in Takanawa, a neighborhood of the special ward of Minato in Japan’s capital city of Tokyo, made its official public debut. Takanawa Gateway Station, which is operated by the East Japan Railway Company (JR East), was opened in March of 2020 so that it could be readily available over the next few months as part of the region’s transportation network accommodating people traveling to and from that year’s Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Just 10 days after the inauguration of Takanawa Gateway Station, however, the Summer Olympics were postponed until the following year due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. BEYOND THE GOLD RUSH I spoke to several people today on the Olympics. It's quite disheartening to see such a remarkable achievement as Max Maeder's bronze medal dismissed with a casual "it's not Gold anyway." Max Maeder's bronze medal win should have been a moment of national pride, but it's a shame to see so many people fixated on the color of the medal rather than the athlete's incredible accomplishment. 😪 Gratitude, a cornerstone of happiness, seems to be lost in the pursuit of perfection. Every athlete who steps onto the world stage deserves our admiration, regardless of the final result. The countless hours of training, sacrifices, and unwavering determination are stories of triumph in themselves. Let's shift our perspective and celebrate the human spirit, the resilience, and the dedication displayed by our athletes. 🎉 👍 🎊 🕛 Let's foster a culture where athletes feel valued and celebrated for their efforts, not just their victories. Every medal, every personal best, every participation is a step forward for Singaporean sports. By recognizing and appreciating their journeys, we empower them to reach even greater heights. At the same time, we create a supportive environment that encourages growth and excellence in Singapore sports front. 🌎 💪 💞 🏅 It's time to redefine success. Let's cheer for our athletes, not just for their medals, but for their inspiration, their courage, and their unwavering spirit. Let's make gratitude the foundation of our support, and watch as our sporting scene flourishes. 🏃♂️ 🤺 🏇 ⛷ 🏂 🚣♂️ 🏊♂️ 🏋♂️ 🚴♀️ 🤸♂️ 🤼 🤾♀️ 🏀 🏈 🎾 🏓 🏸 After all, isn't the true gold in the heart of a champion? 💓 #Gratitude #Happiness #Olympics2024SingaporeTeam
