This task took one day. The document primarily outlines key details about the involved parties—four in total. These include Party A's research station, Party B's training institution (a hospital), Party C's supervising mentor, and Party D, the postdoctoral fellow. It covers the stipulations of the agreement, outlines Party D's responsibilities, details the rights and obligations of each party, and sets the terms for amendments, termination, evaluations, early termination, extensions, liability for breaches, and economic compensation.

Since I recently participated in an intensive and beneficial course on Linguistic Validation for translators, I was asked what this type of service is for and what areas it can be applied to. First, Linguistic Validation is only used in medicine. Its purpose is to give the patient a voice, enabling them to understand and express themselves. It consists of the translation and cultural adaptation of questionnaires called COAs (Clinical Outcomes Assessments). There are 4 types of COAs: 🚩Patient Reported Outcomes (PROs) 🚩Observer Reported Outcomes (ObsROs) 🚩Clinician Reported Outcomes (ClinROs) 🚩Performance Outcomes (PerfOs) Next week I will explain the meaning of these 4 terms in more detail. The course taught by Nur Ferrante Morales was truly outstanding and full of valuable information. As a translator dealing with cross-border and cross-cultural communications, I often look abroad for chances to bolster my language skills and specialist subject knowledge. But sometimes it's good to be reminded that CPD opportunities can crop up closer to home too. Last weekend, for instance, I headed just a few miles up the road to Sheffield to attend a patient forum at the International Coeliac Disease Symposium. This was largely for personal reasons - coeliac is a lifelong autoimmune disease I have to live with, and one way of coping with that is to find out as much as I can about the science behind it. I'm basically a bit geeky about it 😄. But there was a professional element to it too. One of my specialist fields as a #translator and #proofreader is #medical and #healthcare content, particular if it involves patient- or public-facing communications. So getting an inside glimpse into an international medical symposium helped me to: 💡 get an idea of how medical professionals and researchers worldwide develop and share new knowledge 💡gain an insight into how the medical world communicates within its own ranks and to patients, particularly when it comes up against challenges like language barriers and needing to translate research findings from other countries for a wider, less expert audience 💡learn about the latest understanding of a condition that I am personally very interested in, and autoimmune diseases in general 💡discover more about different diagnostic and treatment approaches between different countries, and the impact this has on patients 💡keep abreast of the latest and upcoming research goals in this particular field (you never know if that might come up in a translation project one day!) So all in all, an enlightening experience - on both a personal and a professional level. (And of course, recently I've been covering everything from Swiss tourism to street dance in Swedish and sustainability in label manufacturing - basically anything but medical stuff!
