Job hunt update: I am no longer looking for full-time roles. When this job hunt began I was looking for a part time role that would give me flexibility to be a parent. I wanted a video or content role that was, ideally, in the education space. In my CV I stated I wanted to work with genuinely excellent people. I didn't find that part time role. Instead I found a full time role with Fisher & Paykel Healthcare (hereafter known as F&P HC) as a Digital-Learning-Designer with the Sales and Customer Education Team. That's it. That is the announcement - I got a job! But, how does this job stack up against my criteria... ? Is it "The Job"? Well, I went through 3 interviews so I go to meet the team and they seem like genuinely excellent people. So that is one tick. Is it in the education space? Yes, very much so! I have learning in my job title and the team has education in theirs. Video or content? This is content AND video. Flexibility to be a parent? F&P HC has a great reputation as an employer and I will be starting early in the day in order to not be home super late. I already mentioned this is full time AND I did mention during the hunt that I had shifted my target.. So lets make this a good news story and declare this job as 100% of what I was looking for. I start next week and I want to acknowledge some pretty amazing support from family, friends, and my old team in securing this role. I would also like to acknowledge a really clear, warm, and at times fun recruitment process with F&P HC. #elearning #video #content #healthcare

Can we please make entry-level jobs actually entey-level again? Or at least, try to avoid advertising a position as entry-level if you proceed to ask for 3-4 years of experience in the role. It can be very frustrating trying to apply for a role and feeling defeated before even starting the application process because of requirements like this. Also, a lot of young graduates might have worked while studying to afford living, and it usually isn't in their desired field. Many times, these roles might have been in either retail or hospitality. To be quite honest, there are times when I feel like I have learned so much more in previous hospitality roles rather than in your typical 9-5. Can we bridge the gap between expectations and reality in job listings? Let's celebrate the diverse skills gained from various experiences.
