Just returned from an amazing week at the Digital Medical Devices Summer School in Luxembourg, where we delved into the rapidly evolving landscape of healthcare. Healthcare is shifting towards a patient-centered model where data plays a crucial role. This data-centric approach enhances patient engagement, helps understand patient needs, reduces societal burdens and costs, and improves outcomes. The challenge of this transformation is to bring value to customers, patients, and society. As Heather Mikulski said, “Digital health is a marathon, not a sprint,” and we must begin doing now what patients need next. Listening to Valerie Storms was incredibly powerful and inspiring. The impact of digitalization on patient care can be life-changing. It not only enhances communication between healthcare professionals and patients but also improves patient care by extracting actionable insights from data. Addressing health inequities was another critical topic. These inequities are often systematic, unfair, and avoidable. While digital health has the potential to exacerbate these disparities, it also holds the promise to mitigate them. Lastly, I would like to thank all the people who helped us learn about revolutionize health. Your insights and guidance have been invaluable. The advent of digital health is not just a technological shift but a new way of seeing healthcare, emphasizing the integration of data and patient-centered care to create a more efficient, equitable, and effective health system. #dmdss Valerie Storms, PhD Fozia Noor Prof. Dr. med.
