Recognizing the critical challenge of economic mobility across our region, we developed the Whole Person Pilot Program in partnership with the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors and several other local community-based partner organizations. This initiative is one of the first pilot projects from the NOVAworks Launch Lab, which aims to develop holistic solutions to support our community members in their journey toward sustainable careers. What is the Whole Person Pilot Program? ⭐ Holistic Support: This initiative goes beyond traditional workforce support by addressing comprehensive needs such as housing, food, and transportation, in addition to job search and skills training. 🚀 Community Impact: With an investment of $250,000 from the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, we supported 26 participants, providing intensive job search and essential supportive services to ease financial burdens. ✅ Success Stories: The program has already seen remarkable outcomes, with participants securing employment, engaging in training programs, and receiving the necessary support to transition into sustainable careers, breaking down barriers traditional resources couldn’t pay for. Key Achievements to date: ✔ Enrollment: 26 participants from northern Santa Clara County ✔ Employment: 9 participants have already secured high-quality employment, while 17 more are actively engaged in industry-led training. ✔ Supportive Services: 23 participants received crucial assistance, including rent payments, food, and transportation, enabling them to focus on their career goals rather than worry about how they would participate. The Whole Person Pilot Program is a testament to our commitment at the NOVAWorks Launch Lab to exploring, testing, and investing in innovative workforce development strategies. As we move forward, we will expand, evaluate, and share the lessons we learn from this pilot to drive systemic change and ensure that no one in our region is left behind. Among the many initiatives I stand for, this specific one resonates deeply with me.
We launched the People of Color (POC) Employee Resource Group (ERG) to bridge gaps in understanding of experiences with all employees at Navitus, Lumicera Health Services and EpiphanyRx Co-Chair Sie'anna Mitchell looks forward to what the group will accomplish as a collective and is excited to serve in her role. "This opportunity gives me the chance to lead, learn and grow from so many different individuals in the organization." Chair Mixee Vang echoes this sentiment. "I walk away from every meeting learning something new, whether it's from a personal experience from a fellow coworker, learning something new about someone's background, appreciating a new holiday or celebration, or having takeaway points on how I can have better conversations around topics surrounding POC."
