PEXA community partner Victoria University’s Annual Community Tree Planting Day is a highly anticipated occasion in the PEXA calendar, and this year was no exception! Powered by their #volunteering leave, 13 PEXA staff donned their gloves and sun hats to spend the day helping to bring more greenery to VU’s Werribee campus. “I'm happy to say that we were successful in achieving our goal of planting over 2,500 trees (including 17 different species of trees) – helping towards the program’s total goal of planting 500,000 trees to increase tree canopy coverage in Melbourne's western suburbs,” said Timothy Sunderland, CRM and Analytics Coordinator at PEXA. “The day really taught me just how fun and rewarding volunteering days like this can be, plus it was great to connect with colleagues I typically don’t work with! I'll be back next year for sure,” added Tim. After three consecutive years of planting, Werribee is now home to an extra 12,500 trees. Not only do these trees help to build canopy coverage and understory growth, but they help improve biodiversity and reduce air pollution and urban temperatures in Melbourne’s west. #esg #sustainability #vu Amanda Visser FIEMA CEnv Ahlam Haddad Cheyanna O'Connor Adrian Papa Crystal Smith Donna Rogers Melissa Forsyth Toya Farrell Ameena Afreen Nino M.
