Here at Sandbox, we talk a lot about the importance of trees in carbon sequestration, Trees are sequestration GIANTS! The US Forestry Service reports that America's forests sequester over 800 million tons of carbon annually. Though this may seem like a huge number it only offsets roughly 12% of the US annual carbon emissions. While trees are the obvious leaders in carbon sequestration, they are not alone in this battle. Woody Shrubs, Herbaceous Perennials, Bunch Grasses, and Turf are all important plantings to include when calculating your project's annual sequestration capabilities. More information on their sequestration rates can be found under Sequestration in the Bond App! https://lnkd.in/gKHeTKjT

New Webinar Series! Forests are in the news—from wildfires to habitat and species loss to illegal logging, it seems that barely a week goes by that we don’t read or hear something alarming about our forests. And while concerns about our forest future are valid, emphasis on the negative to the exclusion of all other news can be overwhelming and overshadow all that is working in how we manage and conserve our forests. Join us for a new series of webinars during our Matching Gift campaign on Forest Optimism, as we focus on Forest Optimism as a way to tell the stories of what is working across the spectrum of forestry and related research, industry, land management and conservation efforts.
