Enfleurage is one of the oldest extraction techniques, used to obtain fragrances from flower petals. How does the process work? The fresh petals are placed on a glass plate inserted in a frame (chassis), coated with a thin layer of fat, which gradually absorbs the scent. Ask Ziad: Q07 Q: Are there any differences when creating a perfume extract and a composition for EDP? A: Some oils can fit both concentrations. The idea is that when you make perfume extract (if this means you will not add solvent, only oil like attars), you have to add some uplifting and light notes so the fragrance can be easily carried by air and be projectable. In the case of EDP, you already have alcohol (higher concentration of alcohol than in perfume extracts. "if perfume extracts mean highly concentrated perfume to you".), so you can make the scent darker and more intense.
