Don't look back at your first job as just a 'job' because it was so much more. You probably don't realise it, but your first, probably part-time, job taught you loads of things. For me, I started off as 'just a housekeeper' cleaning (some disgusting) rooms. Why people leave half eaten food on the bedside table, I don't know. As soon as I turned 18, my manager boosted me up to reception and all of a sudden, came responsibility. I was in charge of the hotel for 7 hours, whilst all the guests were checking in. I had to manage a team of housekeepers if I was doing an early shift. Yikes. I didn't even think about it. My confidence grew, I developed my leadership and learned how to be stubborn with demanding guests (no, you can't stay for an extra night and pay later!)
