Many people think it is easier to offer help to people in need than to work to change the systems keeping people powerless and in disadvantage. But it takes both justice and charity to truly help all people in need. 🌿🌿 Following the words of St Vincent de Paul, 'There is no Charity without Justice' the Society advocates strongly for people left behind, who are excluded from our broader community. Advocacy is not about politics, but human rights. By advocating, we help address the root causes of injustice and break the cycle of disadvantage. 🌿🌿 Like, repost and comment to support #Advocacy for people left behind. #Educationalpost. It is estimated that 1 in 10 children will be sexually abused before they turn 18 years old. It is important that we as adults are prepared if a child discloses abuse/neglect to us. As challenging as it might be, we should not show our shock or question the child and we should not question or confront the alleged offender. Here are some things that we should do! Find a private place to talk and to be a listener for the child and not an investigator. Reassure the child that they did the right thing by telling you. Next, report the allegations to law enforcement and/or Children's Protective Services (855-444-3911), so that professionals with specialized training can investigate the allegations, ensure that the child is safe, and hold the offender accountable. Let's work together to protect our children and keep them safe! #kidstalkcac #guidancecentermi #childrensadvocacycenters #nonprofit #children #advocacy #therapy #forensicinterview #medical #traumainformed #childcentered #detroit #southgatemi #waynecountymi #michigan #trauma #healing #resilience #support #donate #mission #endchildabuse

Why is fully integrating lived expertise into policy review design and implementation important to you and other kinship families? Lived experience should not just inform policy change but lead it. Policies, programs, and services are more effective, trusted, and used when they intentionally draw on the perspectives of those they seek to serve. It's important to engage #kinship families as lived experts when creating and enhancing public policies, programs and services that impact them. Explore our Kinship Unity Action Agenda and read our full collective action priorities and policy recommendations to support #grandfamilies! https://lnkd.in/dgpuU5jV #PublicPolicy #Government #Nonprofit #Intergenerational #Advocacy
