Why are dentists referred to as doctors? I have been reflecting on the feeling of value and respect. While #pharmacists provide vital patient care, our contributions are often overlooked. In order to feel valued and respected and fully acknowledge our significant role within healthcare, it is necessary to bridge gaps in public understanding. This is evident when we compare ourselves to #dentists, who are frequently referred to as #doctors. However, the question arises: why are dentists called doctors? Upon exploring the origins of this designation, I found that dentists earned this title based on their diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities. Dentists #diagnose and treat dental issues independently, implying that they possess the knowledge and skills of a physician, which is why they are referred to as doctors. However, pharmacists’ expertise has significantly broadened over the last decade; we are increasingly becoming prescribers, and very soon, all pharmacists will have this capability. Does it not, therefore, makes sense for us to be treated the same way as dentists, with respect and recognition for our skills and expertise? https://lnkd.in/etwAKzpW

Medical coding is the process of translating healthcare diagnoses, procedures, medical services, and equipment into standardized codes. These codes, derived from systems such as ICD, CPT, and HCPCS, ensure uniform documentation across the healthcare industry. The benefits of medical coding are vast: it guarantees accurate billing, leading to proper reimbursement for healthcare providers and minimizing errors. It streamlines healthcare management, making administrative processes more efficient. Accurate coding enhances patient care by ensuring precise and consistent patient records. Additionally, it facilitates data analysis for healthcare research and public health monitoring, aids in regulatory compliance, and opens numerous career opportunities for skilled professionals in various healthcare settings. #medicalcoding #medicalbilling #healthcare #doctors #medical #coding #medicalcoder #physicians #physician #icd #cpt #practicemanagement #medicalbillingandcoding #credentialing #revenuecyclemanagement #hospitals #cpc #telemedicine #physicaltherapy #medicare #medicaid #billingexperts #ehr #armanagement #grouppractices #hospitalmanagement #urology #medicalbillingandcollections #healthmanagement #teskacademy

No interaction is neutral it is either positive or negative, take a second to think about that! 🤔 • ❓What is a recent interaction you have had with a business that felt negative to you, but was probably viewed as neutral by the business representative? Calling to reschedule an appointment, asking for directions within their store, or placing your order at a restaurant? • When people enter a healthcare practice, their emotions are heightened in these encounters by the fear of the unknown that exaggerates each little encounter when they are with us. This is why we have to be intentional that each moment is positive on purpose, P.O.P!🌟 • Practice Leaders: When we don't invest in enhancing our team's soft skills, we have a bunch of 'neutral' encounters happening around our practice. Guess what - they're NEGATIVE to the patient and costing us conversions. Ultimately, limiting the growth of our practice. Empowering our team with an understanding of soft skills and how they practically apply to our daily lives (in and outside of practice) is what makes all the difference! • ✅ Available Resources: The Art of Soft Skills Team Training ➡️ DM us "Neutral" for more information. • • • #Healthcare #HealthcareProfessional #HealthcareProvider #MedicalField #MedLife #Doctor #NursePractitioner #EyeCare #Optometry #Ophthalmology #Ophthalmologist #PlasticSurgery #PlasticSurgeon #Dentistry #DentalCare #CosmeticDentistry #DentistryWorld #DirectPrimaryCare #DPCDoctor #MembershipMedicine #ConciergeMedicine #DPCModel #AestheticNurse #AestheticClinic #Injector #NurseInjector #PatientCare #PatientExperience #PatientFirst Christine Scarlett

Hi there, Usually I'm discussing mediation(s) on LinkedIn. Not this time! I love mediating and I know I'm good at it. But, I feel compelled to briefly share my opinion about today's delivery of medical information to the patient and what should be the patient's responsibility. I've been in the trenches of medical/ surgical care for 50 years as a patient, and worn the hat (literally) as a surgeon (30 yr.), and CEO or COO of several different successful medical companies. I'm afraid the "old" days of trusting that your doctor, PA, RN, LPN, lab technician, etc. have reviewed your records properly and have not missed or misinterpreted something unintentionally are over. You MUST digest the info given to you by those folks and if it doesn't make total sense, you must question the medication, testing, results, surgery, etc. YOU NEED TO TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR MEDICAL CARE. As an example, someone I know well, just received the "apology" copied below from her VERY prominent and competent physician at a VERY highly regarded medical center AFTER THE PATIENT questioned why they "needed" an invasive procedure if her lab test was negative. I have redacted names of the patient, the facility, the doctor and the procedure. Helping the reader here is my intention. Not trashing the doctor or the facility. "Hello XX. xxxxxxx, Thank you for your inquiry! I am glad to say that you are correct. You do not need a xxxxxxx procedure nor repeat testing. Indeed, your XXX tests are negative. My report screen pulled up both 2024 and 2020 together and it appeared to me that the first column was the "normal" column on the left with the "results" on the right, but now I can see that the result is negative. Sorry about that! Best, Dr. XXXXXXX" The test was cancelled but unfortunately the dilemma is ongoing because the patient is not sure whether the first lab results were false positives or the second were false negatives and the result, in this case, matter. The patient is now questioning the doctor why he is not requiring at very least a follow up, new, redone lab test in order to be sure. I'm happy to discuss this further if you have comments or questions. Hope this helps someone, Rich

In todays world, information is GOLD and it is rightly said. BUT… Did you know that most of us underestimate the importance of the information that we own and we keep gathering throughout our lives! 🥇 For every patient you treat… starting right from when you hear the patients complaint till the end of the patients treatment, you are collecting a treasure trove of information, literally! So, why is this information so important? Most of the Doctors do not realize this, but if you start doing the right analysis of information across multiple patients, you can uncover amazing treatment patterns and how effective has been your practice. This is apart from understanding the demographic details, prevalent diseases, issues faced, lifestyles & psychology of your patients where you practice. Information when analyzed correctly to uncover patterns, can greatly help doctors with various insights related to their practice (& even about the population characteristics). Such super-valuable insights can help you make changes in the way you treat your patients and even set or change appropriate treatment protocols to target the specific patterns. Eventually, this is how your 'way of functioning' can set your clinic apart and give you and your patients a win-win situation.
