I’ve even seen working women, who earns a lot of money…. still depends on the male member of the family to decide about savings and investments….. When it comes to investments we predominantly choose real estate or gold….. as it is relatively safe and gives somewhat guaranteed returns better than our FD…. Just a TEST for you people…… (Both men and women can take this test) List down what are the investment options available irrespective of the returns it generates…? See how many are you able to list….. ? (Now stop reading and start thinking/writing) 🤔🖊️ Those who have listed : 4 -you are still in the very very basic level 6 -you are slightly aware 8- Good 10 and above - Great 👍🏻 You’re financially very aware It’s not too late ….. you can still learn and become aware ….. Don’t always depend on men…. for your investment decisions…. What if even men in the family is not aware ….. you’ll think whatever he says is the best ,whereas in reality you might be missing a great investment opportunity….. It’s just that u have to start….. learn from basics… try small and move on to more advanced ones… If you can’t understand a particular instrument then leave and move on to the next…. Not necessary that u have to understand everything that’s available… And over a period of time you’ll become more aware than your male counterpart in the family….. Now you can show them ways to smartly invest their money…. I’m sure that they will be really happy about this…. I request all the men to kindly educate the women in their families about money and investment….. Learning /investing in our own self is the best form of investment…. So don’t stop learning…. I can't pretend to celebrate the overturning of legislation that should never have been passed. Earlier this year, new legislation on angel investing was introduced, which meant that in some areas of the UK, women would no longer be able to Angel invest. To confirm - that is 0 women. Yesterday, Grace Beverley went to Downing Street to talk about how this legislation is now OVERTURNED. We might be quick to think this is a win, but it's NOT. I am a female investor and NED. I've seen first-hand the state of the female investment landscape. Shit is bleak out there - still. #InvestHER and the campaigns alongside it are achievements, but it's one that we shouldn't spend too much time celebrating. The reason Angels are so important for female and ethnic minority founded businesses is that they only receive 2% of all funding from VCs. But making it 'easier' for the small group of women who are angel investing to invest can't be the only solution. This doesn't feel like a win to me; it feels like we overturned something that never should have happened in the first place. We need to change that 2%…that would be the real win. Am I being a cynic?
