New Publisher Alert We are dedicated to ensuring that the LGBTQ community receives the representation it rightfully deserves in the comic book industry. Our artists meticulously craft high-quality pages that center around LGBTQ experiences. We've created a universe around six LGBTQ heroes, whose hands hold the fate of humanity. However, after facing generations of oppression, they begin to question: Is humanity worth saving? Currently, you can read the original 10 episodes of Class6. However, this summer, they will be replaced with a new graphic novel featuring a new name for the group of heroes, a new logo, and new uniforms. The new version has rewritten 90% of the previously published 10 books, making the original version of Class6 a collector's item that won't be reprinted again. This is your last chance to experience the original version. Additionally, we have two episodes of "Loas of Kraven," which is set within the same universe as Class6. We've also had the honor of publishing work from other talented queer artists, including a queer children's picture book titled "Welcome" and a nonbinary anthology called "Nightshades." We're so happy to represent so many speakers all across the LGBTQ+ community. For Pride Month, we've been featuring some of their fresh, new perspectives. And today, we have YouTuber, writer, and digital activist Jackson Bird. This quote from Jackson feels especially relevant with the recent rise of LGBTQ+ representation in film. According to GLAAD's most recent annual study tracking the quantity, quality, and diversity of queer representation in media, of the 350 films tracked, over 28% contained at least one LGBTQ+ character—the highest percentage covered in the 11 years GLADD has conducted the survey. The number of trans characters also hit a record high (albeit, that number was only 12). LGBTQ+ representation in media has certainly been improving, but there's still a ways to go. For instance, over half of the LGBTQ+ characters in the study had less than five minutes of screentime. As we push towards greater equality and liberation, let's remember that, as Jackson says, the most surefire way of telling more and better queer stories is by hiring more queer creators. February is LGBTQ+ History month. To mark this occasion, I presented at Sky's weekly Research Team meeting. In this session, I covered: 🌈What LGBTQ+ History month is and why it's important - there are lots of reasons why it's important. 🌈How this month came about. For those who don't know, it was a direct response to Section 28 - a clause with prohibited any mention of queer families & content in local authorities, including schools from 1988-2003. 🌈How we can support the LGBTQ+ community now and always - there are also lots of ways we can support. 🌈Finally, what Sky are doing to celebrate both internally with events and externally with content. As a Sky LGBTQ+ Champ (someone who's in the know and spreads this knowledge) and a Bisexual woman, this month is particularly important to me. #lgbthistorymonth #diversityandinclusion

Sacramento LGBTQ+ Historic Experience Project - Historic Context Statement. Help us record LGBTQ+ history in Sacramento by providing comments on this first draft historic context statement. The City of Sacramento is seeking public participation in its effort to document LGBTQ+ history in Sacramento. This grant-funded project is collecting oral history interviews, documents, and photos from members of the public through our online portal which will be used along with in-depth historical research to inform this historic context statement of LGBTQ+ history in Sacramento. We recognize not all stories are included in this document, so we need your help to fill in the gaps. What is a historic context statement? It's a planning tool we are using to identify buildings, sites, and landscapes for their association with the LGBTQ+ community in Sacramento so we can recognize their historic importance. We use this document to help justify listing buildings on the Sacramento Register of Historic and Cultural Resources, create placemaking opportunities, and educate the public about this important history. Just in time for the end of 🌈 Pride Month, our friends at LGBTQ+ Victory Institute released their 2024 "Out for America" report. It is packed with insightful stats and data visualizations. We're happy to share it while highlighting a few notable findings: • Every state (plus Washington, D.C.) has at least one out LGBTQ+ elected official serving, totaling at least 1,303 LGBTQ+ elected officials nationwide. • Along with the good news, a caveat: At least 38,193 more LGBTQ+ people must be elected to achieve equitable representation. • Of particular interest to our mission: There are currently 235 LGBTQ+ state lawmakers (and only Louisiana, West Virginia and Idaho have no out legislators). Books by and about the LGBTQ+ community are the most frequent targets of bans at public schools and libraries across the country. And these challenges explicitly state that young people shouldn’t be exposed to LGBTQ+ material. An extension of this thinking is evident in attempts by policymakers nationwide to prohibit drag shows and banning gender-affirming care. They’re also pushing to allow the deadnaming of transgender students or adults in the workplace, as well as other measures that target LGBTQ+ people. Which is why it’s essential to fight against book banning. Because books have the ability to give us a glimpse into lives and experiences other than our own. And as a result, see those whose life experience is different from ours as fellow human beings rather than a frightening Other. So, read a book from the ALA’s Rainbow List in support of Pride Month. Or choose from books that have received the Stonewall Book Award. But don’t limit choices from these lists to the month of June, show support for Pride year-round. 🏳️🌈 As we recognise and honour progression this LGBTQ+ History Month, it is important to explore the economic dimensions of this progress.     Ian Burn, leading our upcoming 'What Economists Really Do' webinar on 'Economics and LGBTQ+', recommends the paper 'LGBTQ Economics' by M. V. Lee Badgett, Christopher S. Carpenter, and Dario Sansone as a way to begin exploring these themes.    The paper provides insights into the evolving landscape of public attitudes and policies towards LGBTQ+ individuals, highlighting the role of economists in shaping discourse and understanding the economic aspects of LGBTQ+ lives. Their research emphasises economic inclusivity, whilst also highlighting areas for future investigation. Can we just take a moment to appreciate the irony with a capital 'Fe'? A right-wing Christian organization naming themselves NACL – which, yes, is the chemical formula for salt. Talk about being unintentionally "salty" in more ways than one! 🧂 But let's not let the humor overshadow the gravity of their actions. The National Association of Christian Lawmakers is actively campaigning against LGBTQ+ representation in school libraries. Framing the inclusion of queer books as grooming is not only misleading, but also harmful. These narratives perpetuate dangerous stereotypes and misinformation about the LGBTQ+ community. We need to remember that representation matters. For LGBTQ+ youth, seeing themselves in literature is crucial for their self-acceptance and understanding. Let's counter this "salty" stance with sweetness and support, advocating for the rights and recognition of every member of the LGBTQ+ community.

Hi, hello. Happy Trans Day of Visibility. It's me, your transgender game dev, here to talk about it with you. TDoV started in 2009 as a small, grassroots moment to seek joy in an existence that feels like it's consistently trying to kill us. It's not easy being trans, and it's even harder when you choose to live a visible, authentic life. There isn't a month that goes by where I don't receive hate messages filled with slurs. Every week there's a new legislation passing that has my partner and I worried about where we can safely travel. Trans folks spend a lot of our existence being scared. So today is a day to celebrate and do so loudly. Joy is an act of resistance, and celebrating our authentic lives is part of that.
