Looking forward to exciting days at Shapes of Time - symposium at Yale School of Architecture! "An interdisciplinary group of artists, architects, scholars, and scientists to investigate the role time plays in their respective fields and in their individual scholarly and creative pursuits. The title hints at the different temporal scales and scopes within different fields. Contemporary conversations about environmental uncertainty, Deep Time, as well as differing ways time is conceptualized and experienced."

Ranging from general light studies to investagions into point, line, and plane, the gestural modeling process has been nothing but constructive to my overall design experience. These models are not only a focused, yet liberating outlet of expression, but more importantly, they allow for exploration into material interaction and potential craft techniques. Why lack of knowledge can be powerful? Let me explain… The unique Guggenheim Museum doesn't look like any building you've ever seen before. Why? That's because the architect Frank Lloyd Wright was self-taught He had to work out for himself how to design a building Wright found his own way.. Ignorance of the 'right' way to do something can be an asset if you do things the way they've been taught Your methods will be the same as everyone else's And you'll produce something obvious, predictable The regular buildings were designed by architects taught the regular way. If you make up your own method, it's likely to be a new method One that produces new results. Today on the GH blog we share the first of three think pieces by Design Champion Jake Stephenson. Wider Issues: Race and Architecture. This series of blogs will focus on three specific challenges that persist within the built environment.
