Clearly Bismarck Healthcare used in Germany, Switzerland, Japan and other democratic nations is the answer enabling access for all citizens to quality affordable private insured and private #ffs manufactured medical care with more private insurers and private hospitals per capita than in America and better clinical outcomes and costs than in the USA. Interesting article looking at the challenges that face Primary Care and how we stack up against other nations. There is no one size fits all when it comes to medicine and no one country has it all figured out. From my perspective one of the biggest challenges I see is how uncoordinated our care is here in the US. Right hand very rarely knows what the left hand is doing and it is detrimental to our healthcare. There is a lot of talk of care coordination, but very little in practice. This is a disaster by the design of the uniquely American system, when there exist irrefutable evidence of the clinical and financial benefits of primary care. In contrast to other OECD countries we only spend ~5 cents on primary care on our healthcare dollar compared to up to ~12 to 15 cents, with better outcomes, longer life expenctancy, fewer ED visits and hospitalizations.
