Pride Month is right around the corner, and straight-led organizations flock to the closest queer person or nonprofit to put on an event to attract LGBTQIA+ people to their cause. 🙋♀️ While the intentions are good, most of these organizations don’t even have queer people on their board, or collect LGBTQIA+ data, or even know where to find them…. And that’s ok! It’s a lot to learn and we appreciate your efforts. 🫶 But it’s time to do more and do better. You can start your journey here! 🤩 ✍️My article “Get Q’d In: Advance Your Mission By Engaging LGBTQIA+ Donors” is now available online via Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP Global)’s Advancing Philanthropy! 🤓 💡The article is your guide on quick tips for long-term engagement from one of the most sought-after communities. 👀 🏳️🌈Take your feel-good one-off Pride events and turn your efforts into a sustainable constituency of the most loyal people you’ll ever engage. 🔄 💬After you read it, sound off in the comments — what more do you want to know? Embark on a journey with Giving Gap as we pave the way towards a fairer future. By bridging the gap between passionate donors and impactful Black-founded nonprofits, we're not just making donations – we're driving meaningful change. In a world where systemic inequalities persist, every contribution counts. Our collective efforts are not only about financial support but also about amplifying voices, uplifting communities, and reshaping narratives. Through Giving Gap, you're not just giving; you're investing in a vision of justice, equality, and empowerment. Together, let's rewrite the narrative of philanthropy. Let's make every donation a statement of solidarity, every action a step towards progress. Join us in building a movement where generosity knows no bounds and where the power to effect change lies in the hands of all. Together, we can create a world where Black lives not only matter but thrive. #movement #closethegivinggap #Giving

Excellent report https://lnkd.in/g29BYKTv by Center for Effective Philanthropy report about the impact of large, unrestricted grants on nonprofits. Insightful findings about the ways these types of grants influence the operation and performance of nonprofits. In addition, this report offers fresh data about how other funders experience this approach. One of most striking findings: "three-quarters of the interviewed funders express concern about nonprofits’ ability to handle large, unrestricted gifts." I hope these funders read the report and reflect on & revise their assumptions. Not perfect, for sure, and part of an ecosystem of funding approaches that makes this approach work (i.e., other funders adding value of various kinds)--a point highlighted in a Center for Effective Philanthropy blog by Ruth Levine a few years ago--but so many funders' fears are just unfounded. Let me add a meta finding suggested by CEPs insights (which CEP alludes to gently): on average, funders underestimate nonprofits' capabilities and strategic acumen & overestimate their own value-added. Kudos to CEP from bringing data to bear on these questions.

Seventeen Sustainable Development Goals have been defined by the UN. Do you know what they are? Do you know where you most want to move the needle to create positive change in the world? SDG 17 is all about collaboration! It is one of the six core areas of change where Rugged Elegance is striving to have impact. Specifically with our movement “The Necessary Pause” and the creation of RE…the soulful network. Goal 17 - Partnerships are the glue for SDG implementation and are essential to making the fulfillment of the UN’s goals a reality. Thank you for this “Collective Giving” report, Haili. Love your / the Johnson Center’s key takeaways: 1. Collective giving is democratizing and diversifying philanthropy. 2. Collective giving greatly expands what gets funded. 3. Collective giving pushes the bounds of how philanthropy is practiced. 4. Collective giving deeply impacts members themselves. 5. Collective giving is a catalyst for social cohesion and change. Haili, thank you for your hospitality in New York during @ Forward Global’s Summit! You define radiance. We are SO aligned! P.S. Rusty Stahl of Fund the People has shared a blog reflecting on two new studies from the Center for Effective Philanthropy (CEP) that offer more information about the crisis facing America’s nonprofit workforce — and how much funders do or do not care to address it. Rusty argues "that grantmakers are missing the fundamental connections between their own funding practices, how grantees can compensate staff, why burnout is on the upswing, and how all of this damages the ability of grantors and grantees alike to achieve their shared goals." Read it here: To Ensure Nonprofit Well-Being, Invest in Wages, Workload, and Working Conditions | The Center for Effective Philanthropy (cep.org)

In Europe, like in many other parts of the world, there's a serious lack of diversity in the art world. We're talking about underrepresentation that simply can't be ignored. When the voices of diverse communities are missing from the conversation, we're missing out on a wealth of perspectives and experiences. But ODBK isn't backing down, folks. We're fighting tooth and nail to change the status quo and create a European art world that truly reflects the rich tapestry of humanity. And with our equality programs leading the way, we're making waves and inspiring change across the continent. #ODBK #DiversityAndInclusion #donate #nonprofit #contemporaryart #diversitymatters #fyp

People Leave! Workplace transitions are hard! I offer advisor and interim executive leadership for orgs ready to be better at Leaving Well™️.
"Donors must move away from setting overly stringent restrictions and priorities or constantly refreshing their funding strategies. The grantee partners we support — not the donors who fund them — are best placed to determine what strategies will advance their agendas. Matching the talk with action when it comes to unrestricted funding is an important component of a harmonious ecosystem. Donors can offer their tools and resources while recognizing the know-how of their grantee partners. Fundraising teams and organizations will be able to come up for air, redirecting their energy to mobilizing growing numbers of supporters of human rights and delivering on their own added value. Most importantly, more money means that more flexible — and, therefore, more effective — funding will flow to movements." This is powerful and a must read for donors and those who work in that space, via Inside Philanthropy via Jen Bokoff and other contributors.
🔦 In this new Inside Philanthropy article, DRF's Jen Bokoff and our philanthropic collaborators share why unrestricted funding is critical to #ShiftThePower to human rights movements. It's time for philanthropy to match its rhetoric with action. 📣 Read here: https://shorturl.at/cjvyC Image ID: A black graphic with text: Unrestricted funding: Why Donors Need to Match Talk with Action Urgent Action Fund for Feminist Activism Global Greengrants Fund The Fund for Global Human Rights

In recent times, we have witnessed a shifting landscape that has challenged the foundations of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts and anti-racism initiatives. Legislative changes and uncertainties surrounding philanthropic funding have prompted organizations to reflect on their approach to combating racism and promoting inclusivity. https://lnkd.in/eNWp7-kE
