“I have a friend who's an artist and has sometimes taken a view which I don't agree with very well. He'll hold up a flower and say, “Look how beautiful it is.” And I'll agree, I think. And he says, ”See, as an artist, I can see how beautiful this is. But you, as a scientist, oh, take this all apart and it becomes a dull thing. And I think that he's kind of nutty. First of all, the beauty that he sees is available to other people and to me, too; I believe, although I may not be quite as refined esthetically as he is, that I can appreciate the beauty of a flower. At the same time, I see much more about the flower than he sees. I could imagine the cells in it, the complicated actions inside, which also have a beauty. I mean, it's not just beauty at this dimension, one centimeter; there's also beauty at the smaller dimensions. The inner structure. Also the processes, the fact that the colors and the flower evolved in order to attract insects to pollinate it is interesting. It means that insects can see the color. It adds a question: does this esthetic sense also exist in the lower forms? Why is it esthetic? All kinds of interesting questions, which science, knowledge only adds to the excitement, the mystery and the awe of a flower. It only adds”. Even the science is a kind of Art.

Tartan is the distinctive pattern of criss-crossed horizontal and vertical bands in multiple colors, that appears in woven wool fabrics. These fabrics are known as tartans and are associated with particular Scottish clans, families, districts, and regiments. Clan tartans were first recorded in the 16th and 17th centuries, but may have origins in Ancient Roman or Irish influence. Each clan would have had its own distinctive tartan pattern to distinguish its members from other clans. By the late 18th century, commercialization led to more widespread use of certain tartans beyond any one particular clan; today tartans represent both Scottish national and clan identities. What if I told you that the most coveted colour in history was made from snail slime? That’s right, the legendary Tyrian purple, also known as royal purple or imperial purple, was a natural dye extracted from the glands of certain sea snails, such as the spiny dye-murex. The process was tedious, smelly, and expensive, but the result was a stunning shade of purple that never faded, but rather became more vibrant with time and exposure to sunlight. Tyrian purple was first produced by the ancient Phoenicians around 1200 BC, and soon became a symbol of power, prestige, and wealth. Only the elite could afford to wear garments dyed with Tyrian purple, such as kings, emperors, priests, and magistrates. The colour was so revered that it was even associated with the divine, as purple was the colour of the gods in many ancient cultures. The production and trade of Tyrian purple was a closely guarded secret for centuries, until the fall of Constantinople in 1453 AD, when the knowledge was lost. Since then, many attempts have been made to recreate the original dye, but none have succeeded in replicating its exact hue and properties. Tyrian purple is a fascinating example of how nature can produce something so beautiful and rare, and how humans can transform it into something even more valuable and meaningful. Kudos to Anthony and his team for moving the envelope in the lab-grown diamond space. It is understandable that the Future Rocks remains a niche player with very little risk of competing with its parent Chow Sang Sang Holdings International Limited in the more mainstream jewellery markets in Greater China. CSS has a younger brand called Emphasis which I believe is targeted at younger consumers. It would seem logical that Future Rocks offerings can be test marketed in such brick and mortar stores belonging to CSS to gain bigger traction. It is indeed disappointing that none of the big retailers with headquarters in Hong Kong has seen fit to offer LGD as a choice to Hong Kong or Chinese consumers. I believe that as high as 80 percent of retailers(I am not sure about exact percentage but it is high) are offering LGD in the U.S. retail market as both a bridal as well as fashion option. Without a doubt the LGD market is challenging so sitting on the fence is understandable. The question is not IF but WHEN LGD will become available in the major chains in Hong Kong. Pandora and SWAROVSKI have been slow to offer their LGD lines in Hong Kong. I believe Pandora is offering it in a few of their Hong Kong stores. There are smaller retailers who may be making good money selling LGD in Hong Kong. The wholesale market is very active with many Indian wholesalers but LGD remains the best kept secret in the Hong Kong retail space. The traditional retailers prefer to keep it this way for good reasons. For as long as possible. I see great opportunity for a Great Leap forward by a visionary player. Maybe it will be CSS or the likes. Or maybe it will be an overseas retailer line Titan but they too are not offering LGD in India.
