Did you know? 📣 Acknowledgement of Country and Welcome to Country are important processes that recognise the unique position of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australian culture, and history as the Traditional Custodians of the land. Taking the time to Acknowledge Country, or including a Welcome to Country at significant events, reminds us that every day we live, work, and dream on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Country.    Protocols for welcoming visitors to Country have always been a part of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. When permission was granted the hosting group would welcome the visitors, offering them safe passage and protection during their travels.    A Welcome to Country is delivered by the Traditional Custodians of land, or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who have been given permission from the Traditional Custodians to provide a welcome.    An Acknowledgement of Country can be conducted by an Aboriginal person who is not a Traditional Custodian, or a non-Aboriginal person. An Acknowledgement of Country is an opportunity for anyone to show respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culture, and history. I was reflecting on the Director's duty to act in the best interests of the company and its relevance to Public Institutions. The best interests are not limited to just present interests or monetary interests, it includes at this juncture, interests that may arise in the future which could potentially impact the Institution's #Sustainability, its #Relevance, its employees, clients, customers and, users of its services, and what #Governance structure is ultimately necessary. The interests that may arise in the future, are of course informed by the present trends. AUSTRALIAN SKILLS PASSPORT SYSTEM to CONNECT WORKERS and EMPLOYERS The federal government has introduced a commendable initiative: "With a passport, you can travel; with a skills passport, you can secure employment". However, the specifics of this program are still in the early stages of development and have yet to be finalised. Nevertheless, it promises to offer a valuable platform for skilled professionals to gain recognition and connect through a nationwide skills passport system…” remarked Wee-Oon Chief Executive from OZemployment. This passport system aims to facilitate workers in showcasing their comprehensive qualifications, micro-credentials, prior educational achievements, workplace experience, and general proficiencies. Under this proposal, a professional worker's qualifications would be securely stored in a digital format, much like My Health Record national system. Furthermore, it is anticipated to unify various reform initiatives, including changes to the migration system, under a single overarching framework. "The positive impact is achieved through the sharing of data among professionals and employers. However, when we look at skills data for a group or population, its significance grows even further. #Iceland, we need your help. #National #teams are being organized for each #Arctic nation, with each team working in a coordinated manner to develop a comprehensive integrated critical infrastructure system for the Arctic region over the coming decades, shared between all Arctic nations, with the first #MOU between participating nations having a target date of 2043. 5 of 8 teams have launched, with over 80 people (and growing) thus far between all Arctic teams, and #TeamIceland is currently looking for #volunteer team members before its upcoming launch. Here is the core problem: Population Sizes: America: ~335,000,000 people Russia: ~145,000,000 people Iceland: ~375,000 people (You may begin to see the challenge now, but to expand...) We have internationals on every single team, because: Earth: ~8,100,000,000 people Bigger hiring pool generally means stronger team possibilities, so if you want the best teams, be willing to work with just about anyone from anywhere provided it's not a security issue. While internationals are part of every team, nationals are as well for equally clear reasons. Iceland's population is #mighty, #innovative, #productive and #prosperous. It is also, with love, #tiny, comparatively speaking. If we end up having a fully non-Icelandic team, so be it and I'm certain they will perform amazingly. However I truly believe that having Icelandic people on the team will be of immense natural benefit to the project and to #TeamIceland.
