Retired - Senior Well Engineering Advisor

Who do you believe about the ongoing UK DB pensions debacle at bp ? The Company is carefully managing and manipulating the messaging about this whole ordeal. They would have you believe that the BP Pensioner Group is just a small number of activists with an axe to grind. The reality is that many BP pensioners spent our entire careers absolutely believing in this company and trusting that they would always Do the Right Thing when the time came - that time is now. The current leadership is betraying and is rapidly losing the trust from its once loyal employees, now pensioners - and in doing so is blatantly brushing aside the Code of Conduct. If the Company can break promises to us now who else might they be willing to break promises to in the future? Be Careful, Be Very Careful. Who would you believe? #brokenpromises #beyondparsimony #ageism #BPpensions #bppg #codeofconduct

Reimagining energy - Join the revolution @bp

bp is in action in the UK North Sea, where it successfully started up production from the Seagull field. It’s all part of the company’s efforts to help keep energy flowing where it’s needed, while also investing in the energy transition. With the board now espousing the, much ignored, Code-of-Conduct, and encouraging employees to 'speak up' you would think that current employees would delight in being able to, at last, show support for the pensioners cause or even challenge posts/comments they disagree with. After all it could be them next. 𝑯𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓, 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒘𝒐 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒃𝒍𝒆𝒎𝒔: ➊ when the board say that they and the leadership team continue to listen to feedback, why should employees believe this as they haven't been listening, in particular to former employees, who have been stonewalled for 7 months. ➋ when they say they will take action when and where appropriate; who decides what is appropriate, action against Looney took 3-months and who is to say that the action will not be against the brave individual who speaks up given that it has been said that employees are "advised" not to engage with the pensions group social media. Having now acted on the Looney issue the board need to actively engage in a two-way conversation with the BPPG leaders to correct the injustice and demonstrate to employees that the Code-of-Conduct will be found, dusted-off and restored to its rightful place at the center of bp's operations. bp #BPpensions
