ASEAN Employment Outlook The Quest for Decent Work in Platform Economy: Issues, Opportunities and Ways Forward Link to download: https://lnkd.in/gc2X4jsU This ASEAN Employment Outlook was coordinated by ASEAN Secretariat under the guidance of ASEAN Senior Labour Officials Meeting (SLOM), with the support of the European Union (EU) through the Enhanced Regional EU-ASEAN Dialogue Instrument (E-READI). ASEAN Employment Outlook aims to investigate emerging issues in the world of work in Southeast Asia that have not been widely covered by other studies or research. This Outlook focuses on workers in the platform economy. It offers a comprehensive analysis of the effects and challenges of the rise of labor platforms across ten ASEAN Member States (AMS), identifies good practices from AMS and the EU, and provides recommendations on how ASEAN can ensure human capital development and social protection for the workers in non-traditional work arrangements amidst the changing world of work. From 1 December 2024, employees in Singapore who completed probation can make requests for flexi-work. New guidelines effective December 2024 require all employers to set up a process for workers to formally request flexible work arrangements. Minister Gan Siow Huang highlighted the importance due to Singapore's tight labor market and aging workforce. Flexible arrangements enable caregivers and seniors to work if they choose. By 2030, 1 in 4 Singaporeans will be 65+. Last year, 30.6% of seniors aged 65+ were employed. Women's workforce participation rose to 76.6%, but 260,000 remain out of the workforce.
