A memorable evening and moving celebration of 40 years of Judy Campisi’s laboratory. I have been blessed to have Judy as colleague, mentor and friend. People who had trained with Judy came from all over the world or sent their tributes. It was a beautiful evening with people sharing their funny and enlightening stories about Judy and how she touched their lives. People for the longest time labelled cellular senescence as an artifact but now it’s become one of the hottest fields with over 100 clinical trial with senolytics and senotherapeutics. I have personally and professionally benefited immensely from her presence. Even thoughi often did not want to work on senescence, we keep finding surprising connections with things we work in our lab related to longevity ends up being connected somehow. Even flies show senescent cells, also known as zombie cells. Very grateful for being part of this amazing group. Judy not only continues to make major contributions to the field of senescence and aging but has also been an amazing mentor to so many excellent scientists! One of my favorite quotes of the evening was ‘ it’s easy to do a 100 experiments but harder to sit down and think and do 1 experiment’

Judy has also been an early and very thoughtful proponent of the critical importance of an evolutionary perspective in understanding cellular and molecular phenomena in aging. So impactful in so many ways. Congrats, Judy!
