Do you know what "Ramadan Mubarak" means? "Ramadan Mubarak" is a greeting used by Muslims during the month of Ramadan, one of the holiest months in Islam. "Ramadan" refers to the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, a period of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. "Mubarak" means "blessed" or "happy" in Arabic. So, "Ramadan Mubarak" translates to "Blessed Ramadan" or "Happy Ramadan," and is a way to wish someone a blessed and joyful month. Fasting is a school for educating our soul and purifying our heart, and for correcting our conduct. Therefore, it's not just about abstaining from food and drink, but also about abstaining from everything that is prohibited. During this period, we should avoid saying what is wrong, avoid insults and enmities, as well as bad habits. Below are some of the teachings from the school of Ramadan fasting that we can use in our daily lives, both professionally and personally: ⚫ Integrity: The worship of fasting is a secret worship, between you and God, where no one knows the truth about your fast except God. Some may pretend to fast in front of people, not eating or drinking in front of anyone, but when they are alone, they eat and drink. ⚫ Perseverance: Despite feeling hunger, thirst, and other temptations, we remain firm to achieve the ultimate goal. Usually, the first days are more difficult, but the rest are more tranquil, showing that perseverance is very important to reach the final reward, in the medium and long term. ⚫ Gratitude: Ramadan helps to reestablish the importance of so many blessings that we take for granted, i.e., food, water, sleep, etc. When we are deprived of these things, we realize their value. One of the best feelings we have during this month is the first sip of water at the moment of breaking the fast, where we feel the water flowing through the body. ⚫ Empathy: Fasting teaches us kindness and generosity, as every moment we feel hungry and thirsty, we put ourselves in the position of the poor and needy, and with that, we become more generous in Ramadan and beyond. ⚫ Time management: Fasting teaches us to take advantage of and organize time, as we stop eating exactly at dawn and return exactly at twilight. ⚫ Self-control: Fasting teaches us willpower, as leaving food and drink shows us that we can abandon vices like smoking and other practices that harm us; ⚫ Celebrating success: After the end of each day, we gather to break the fast with family, with friends, and at the end of the month, we celebrate in a grand party, also, to mark the end of Ramadan. This is one of the two festivities celebrated by Muslims in the year. I am very grateful to be part of DHL, a company that respects and values diversity and to have very open managers who respect the team’s differences. During this month, I often hear: “just because you're not having lunch doesn't mean you shouldn't take your lunch break, take the time to rest,” :) 😍

🌙✨ Wishing You a Blessed Ramadan! ✨🌙 As we enter the holy month of Ramadan, March 10 - April 9, I want to extend my warmest wishes to all those observing this sacred time. Ramadan is a period of reflection, spiritual growth, and community for our Muslim colleagues and friends. Here are a few tips for non-Muslims, especially managers, on how to support and be inclusive of their Muslim colleagues in the workplace during Ramadan: 1️⃣ Respect fasting hours: Be mindful of your Muslim colleagues who may be fasting from dawn until sunset. Avoid scheduling meetings or events that involve food during fasting hours, and be understanding if they need to take breaks for prayers or rest. 2️⃣ Foster an inclusive environment: Take this opportunity to learn more about Ramadan and Islamic traditions. Show interest and respect for your colleagues' customs and practices. Consider organizing educational sessions or cultural events to promote understanding and inclusivity. 3️⃣ Offer flexibility: Recognize that fasting during Ramadan may impact energy levels and productivity. Offer flexibility in work schedules or deadlines to accommodate any changes in routine or energy levels. Wishing everyone a peaceful and blessed month ahead! 🌟 #RamadanMubarak #Inclusion #Diversity #Unity #WorkplaceCulture

As the last Friday of Ramadan looms, I find myself in a deep reflection of time's swift passage. It's remarkable, isn't it? How these sacred days and nights have unfolded in what feels like mere moments. This Ramadan has tested our resilience, pushing us through a myriad of challenges. Yet, amidst the trials, it's also been a period of profound personal growth and communal solidarity. Fasting, far from just a physical endeavour, has been a vessel for nurturing patience and empathy, allowing us to connect deeply with the essence of humanity. Despite the hurdles, this month has been a beacon of hope and perseverance. Sharing iftar has never felt more precious, as we broke bread with stories of resilience. Our community's strength has been a source of inspiration, reminding us that even in the face of adversity, our collective faith is unwavering. This journey has been about more than abstaining from food and drink; it's been about introspection, purification, and returning to our spiritual core. It has been about finding tranquility amid the chaos, a reminder of the unwavering support and shared humanity that exude within the ummah. As we approach Eid, let's carry forward the lessons learned and the spirit of Ramadan into the rest of the year. May the resilience and courage we've harnessed bring forth peace and prosperity. #RamadanReflections #SpiritualGrowth #Resilience

Supervisor Work Integrated Learning | Career Development Practitioner | Enhancing Student Career Journeys
This is an important topic for the WIL/co-op & student work experience space. I experienced the importance of having conversations with students who are preparing for their co-op and WIL experiences while I was helping out with mock interviews this week. I jumped in to help with a 3:30 interview with a student, who seemed very low energy throughout the interview. They lost their train of thought responding to a question near the end of the interview, and said "I'm sorry I'm not as sharp as I want to be, I'm fasting right now" We ended up having a very good conversation about preparing for the upcoming interviews during Ramadan. As important as it is to have these conversations with our students, it was also a good reminder that we should also be preparing and reminding our co-op and WIL partners to create space and consider how they can be supportive and compassionate to students who are interviewing during this time. #workintegratedlearning #wil #coop #studentworkexperience #inclusiveeducation #inclusiveworkplace

Throwback to a whirlwind Ramadan, We had this idea for a soft-sell campaign, but guess what? Ramadan snuck right up on us. No time to waste, we knew we needed to crank things up a notch. Luckily, the basic concept was there. The challenge was pulling everything together ASAP: script, crew, props, logistics, the whole shebang. Budget was a factor too, so we had to be smart about it. On top of filming, we brainstormed how to spread the word once it was done - channels, activation strategies, all the post production thing. Big shoutout to the marketing team for absolutely crushing the role delegation. In just 3 days, we were prepped and ready to roll! Filming took a full day, and editing added some extra time, but we kept things moving at lightning speed. Finally, our short film premiered! But we didn't stop there. We plastered it all over social media, partnered with some influencers, ran some targeted ads, and even shared it on our own profiles. The goal? Share the spirit of Ramadan and maybe sneak in a little brand love. I think, It worked! The production quality was on point (think high-five worthy, with a few minor tweaks for next time). But the best part? The film reaching a lots of people and sparking some awesome conversations. Thankyou Marketing team for this works! kudos!
Find precious moments with the people who matter most. Give the best impression to your loved ones. Happy fasting during Ramadan 1445H.
