So why is padel everyone's new favourite sport?? 🎾 Born in Acapulco in 1969, padel first cultivated a loyal following in the hispanic world. In the past 10 years that loyal following has ballooned, crossing borders and languages in rapid succession. According to FIP (International Federation of Padel), padel is now played in over 100 countries. So here’s why padel is taking the world, and now the UK, by storm… 🌐 Quick to learn, fun to play! The technical barrier to entry is far lower than tennis. An underarm serve means players can start playing actual competitive games within minutes of stepping on court. The game itself is extremely dynamic. Surrounded on all sides by glass, rallies are 60-70% longer than in tennis. Four players in the tight confines of a 20m x 10m court makes for points that are often played out in close quartered, exhilarating volley battles. The close proximity makes for easy communication between all players. 🗣 It’s good for you! A combination of cardio, coordination and communication padel encapsulates both physical and mental health. Whether in your prime or picking it up later on in life, padel provides a thorough workout for all. COVID highlighted how critical human connection is for mental health. With a uniquely social element the 20m x 10m court facilitates easy interactions and new friendships. ❤️ Shorter racquets and smaller courts means padel demands much less of the body than tennis. Padel provides a low impact, low strain form of exercise for those worries about joint health. 🏃♂️ It's very sociable! Padel is almost exclusively played as doubles which mean that teamwork and good communication are integral parts of the game. Literally anyone can play meaning that padel courts and clubs serve to foster diverse and vibrant communities. 👫 If you're still not convinced have listen to what our players at Potters Bar have to say 👇 Blue Flag Visual

Padel Americano. Pros and Cons. - What is Padel Americano? Padel Americano is a dynamic and inclusive variant of padel, typically played in doubles format. Unlike traditional padel, where pairs stay together throughout the match, Padel Americano involves players rotating partners, ensuring a mix of skill levels and a more social atmosphere. This rotation format makes it ideal for both beginners and experienced players. 1. Pros of Padel Americano. Social Interactions. Padel Americano is an excellent way to meet new people. By rotating partners, you get to play with and against different individuals, fostering a community spirit and opening doors for networking. -The changing dynamics with each new partner enhance camaraderie and teamwork skills, beneficial both on and off the court. 2. Inclusivity and Accessibility. For All Skill Levels. The format is designed to accommodate players of varying skill levels. Whether you're a novice or an expert, Padel Americano provides a level playing field where everyone can enjoy the game. - Easy to Learn. The rules are straightforward, making it accessible for beginners while still offering depth and strategy for seasoned players. 3. Health and Fitness. Cardiovascular Workout. Like other racket sports, Padel Americano offers an excellent cardiovascular workout, improving heart health and stamina. - Full-Body Exercise. The sport involves running, jumping, and swinging, providing a comprehensive full-body workout that enhances agility, coordination, and strength. 4. Mental Well-being. Stress Relief. Engaging in physical activity and the social aspects of Padel Americano can significantly reduce stress and improve mental well-being. - Improved Focus and Concentration. The strategic elements of the game require concentration and quick thinking, which can help sharpen mental acuity. Cons of Playing Padel Americano 1. Inconsistent Team Dynamics. Varying Skill Levels: The rotating partners can sometimes lead to mismatched skill levels, which may affect the enjoyment and competitiveness of the game. - Communication Challenges: Constantly changing partners require adaptability in communication styles and strategies, which might be challenging for some players. 2. Limited Availability. Fewer Courts and Clubs: Compared to traditional sports like tennis or soccer, Padel Americano courts and clubs might be less widespread, making it harder to find regular playing opportunities in some regions. 3. Learning Curve. Initial Adaptation: For players accustomed to traditional padel or other racket sports, adapting to the rotation format and new partner dynamics might take time. 4. Injury Risk. Physical Demands: As with any sport, there is a risk of injuries such as sprains, strains, or overuse injuries. Proper warm-up, technique, and equipment are essential to minimize this risk. By weighing these pros and cons, you can decide if Padel Americano is the right sport for you. We look forward to play with you!

Unveiling Sport England's First Padel Participation Figures Sport England for the first time has captured player numbers for padel and pickleball. Their research indicates a core base of 23,000 English adult padel players (18,000 – 33,000 players with a 95% confidence interval). Presently, more men (78%) are playing than women. For context, tennis (861,000 players) and badminton (763,000 players) are the dominant established English racquet sports. Defining a player This new Sport England research, conducted by Ipsos, the global research company, defines an adult player as over the age of 16 who participated at least twice in the sport in the past month when they were surveyed. These two sessions need to have reached a minimum threshold of 60 minutes. Declining Established Racquet Participation in England It is interesting to look at the trend for the four established racquet sports which all show declines since 2016, so pre-dating the Covid-19 pandemic. There are 175,000 fewer squash players in England compared with seven years ago. What explains why established racquet sports participation has been declining? For some sports, there are fewer opportunities (venues) to play, but to what extent is it also physical capability and motivation? The Joy of Sport What struck me when I read the Sport England Active Lives report was how only 32% of people strongly agree with the statement: “I find sport enjoyable and satisfying.” It has been consistently at this same level for the past five years and just 25% for females. Given that sport is a festival of different activities and choices why is it not a time of absolute joy for more people? We know that more people are living with long-term health conditions and chronic pain and these people are less likely to be active so is ‘sport’, in all its forms, doing enough to adapt and effectively communicate to a changing population? Could emerging racquet sports like padel help more people to find exercise more intrinsically enjoyable? My forthcoming UK Padel Report As I research deeper into the sport of padel, I can see how it engages a wide inter-generational audience who do seem to find inherent and intrinsic joy in the sport — no need for an array of external incentives, points and rewards that nudge people to play. I am enjoying the opportunity to explore, decode and explain the padel ‘recipe.’ Strategic Partnership Opportunities I would enjoy speaking with organisations that would like to be associated with Oxygen Consulting’s forthcoming UK padel report, especially those who are taking the long view to grow an inclusive and sustainable sport. Strategic sponsor support means that the report can be free and open access. Please contact me to further explore this. Please do leave your comments and I will link to the full Active Lives report in the comments. Note: Respondent surveys collected between November 2022 & November 2023. Numbers rounded. #SportEngland #PadelUK #RacquetSports

India is already getting it right 💪 where others have not! How? Working in India is currently my focus and their journey has just begun, but…. …with over 20 years in the padel industry, guiding others down a path that has taken leaders to the top, I can categorically say… …they are working intelligently and are right on track to create the foundations of a national Padel Power house: - Focusing on development of local coaches, using seasoned professional Padel coaching experts from countries leading in the sport. whilst also… - Focusing on raising players game to engage for the long-term, thereby building a strong and thriving padel community and market. India is well known for seeking out best in class learning opportunities to create the foundations of leaders. Padel in India is no exception! Who to watch out for? Leaders PadelPark and Indian Padel Academy the first Indian padel academy PS: Key words from above explained: Local coaches (not bought in), Padel (not tennis), Padel expert (not digital media expert), coaching expert (not player), seasoned (10 years plus), leading country (Spain), raising game (player achieves increasingly difficult results), thriving (growing in quantity and quality, competing and beating other countries), market (real demand, not just interest in investment), best in class learning opportunities (results notable on court). #padelindia #padelinindia #internationalpadel

Padel is a global sensation. And, everyone around me is getting hooked! Will it scale in India? I played padel in Spain for the first time 15 years ago when our hotel didn’t have a squash court. I didn’t see the sport for years then until very recently. When it started growing here I was doubtful about the sport. But once everyone started playing I couldn’t resist. There was something about padel that instantly clicked. And, I now try to play everywhere I go including my most recent trip to Turkey 😂 (PS - For those who don’t know, padel is a hybrid of tennis and squash with a smaller court and different racket) Today, it is the fastest growing sport in the world – with 25 million padel players worldwide. And, the global padel club market is set to 3x in value by 2026 However, finding an available court booking is as hard as getting past the rush hour traffic. I think this will change and the sport will scale massively. Here’s why: 🚀 It capitalizes on tennis fallout: Tennis clubs are losing members to crossfit, the fitness programme, or yoga. Also, picking up padel is so much easier. It’s just a hard sport to pick up if you start late. 🚀 Space Efficient: Cities lack open space, but padel requires less real estate than tennis. You can fit 2-3 padel courts within 1 tennis court. India's 25,000+ tennis courts offer prime conversion opportunities. 🚀 Beginner Friendly + Social Padel has a shorter learning curve compared to tennis, making it easier for beginners to pick up and enjoy. And, you play 4 at a time so, it’s very social. I’d say like a more engaging cousin of all racquet sports. The entire padel ecosystem is scaling further by the ongoing professionalization of the sport with the World Padel Tour. And, the reels on Instagram are going viral. It’s now becoming a real business. With opportunities in padel court manufacturing club operations, rackets, tournaments and even padel specific sneakers - there’s real money to be made. Yes, a new sport will take time to get adoption. But, the easier, social and space constrained nature of padel seems to make it perfect for scale in our country. I predict a massive opportunity with the smartest people land grabbing now to gain first mover advantage :) The real question: will padel win or Pickleball? Maybe worth another post. Until then; have you played padel? What do you say Ronak Daftary Alan Healy? #sports #india #infrastructure #padeltennis #healthandwellness

Exploring the Rise of Padel in the UK: A Forthcoming Report from Oxygen Consulting Padel is emerging in the UK, but is it destined to be a niche sport or become as popular as tennis? Factors such as social connectivity, easy-to-play, and intergenerational appeal drive its growth, but will they be enough to elevate padel to become a mainstream UK participation sport? For context, the UK scenario three in the attached image at 200 courts per million people compares with 323 courts per million in Spain — the global centre of padel. What is Padel? Imagine tennis and squash meet and have a child called padel who encourages players to think like a chess grandmaster. This doubles sport is played on a 20m x 10m glass and steel court indoors or outdoors. Is the UK now primed for a padel rush? Initially introduced to the UK in 2011, padel failed to scale until a recent post-COVID-19 increase in public and private sector investment, and a growing public fascination has injected renewed interest in the sport. My forthcoming report written for an investor, real estate, entrepreneur, and leisure sector audience delves into whether the UK is now ready to embrace this sociable racquet sport and explore emerging business models and opportunities co-locate with other sports, leisure, real estate and hospitality operators. My new padel report is investigating: 💡 Different padel business operating models 💡 Financial appraisal and property analysis 💡 Reviews of leading UK padel operators 💡 Opportunities for the wider health and fitness industry 💡 New consumer research into what motivates players to the sport 💡 Polling the UK public to understand awareness of padel & propensity to play 💡 Future UK outlook & growth scenarios to guide investments. Strategic Partnership Opportunities Oxygen Consulting invites organisations to form partnerships through sponsorship of this new UK padel research. This is an opportunity for organisations to be strategically positioned with new research and at the forefront of one of the UK's fastest-growing sports. Your support will ensure that the final report is free and open-access rather than behind a paywall. Please contact me to further explore this. As a lifelong racquet sports player, I am excited to investigate how a nation adopts and integrates padel and its role in increasing activity levels, well-being and public health. What impact do you believe padel might have in getting more people, across all generations, to fall in love with exercise? How do you see padel being ‘productised’ and marketed in the UK — membership model or pay and play? #Strategy #PadelUK #UKSports #SportsInvestment #Exercise

Elite Padel Player Management & Brand Manager | Award Winning Marketer & Content Creator | Founder of The Miracle Digital 🌐
🎾 Did you know I serve as a player manager to 10 of the top padel players in Britain? A unique role that no other woman in the UK is currently carrying out. My focus is to support the players as much as possible and with my marketing and sports communication background, I am meticulous about content creation, digital marketing and ensuring I am the players best publicist by partnering with excellent brands. To support our players comprehensively, I have established a robust structure that includes access to courts and top padel coaches in the UK and Spain, sport psychology services, a designated professional fitness coach for padel players, and a elite athlete sport nutritionist Ed Tooley At this point it’s like having 10 kids, I hope they all agree that they are being looked after! 😜 Additionally, I am actively networking and attending events like Padel World Summit (picture below) to share my thoughts and also my short but exciting journey within the padel world. I am absolutely loving it! ..and I am committed to elevating not only our players profile and R3 Sport brand but also the love of padel in the UK. Being half Spanish and raised between England and Spain allows me to compare the growth of the sport between both countries and see how far we have come (especially in these last months). But, of course there is always room for personal improvement, right? How can I show up better for the R3 Sport players? How can I get them seen and supported more? What can I do better to showcase what we are building at R3 for our sponsors and partners? How can I help in general by placing more eyes on the sport… especially more women and girls willing to try a different sport and jump on a padel court. Lots to think about… If any of the padel community on my LinkedIn would like to bounce off some ideas with me or chat with me about partnering with R3 Sport or sponsoring any of the top tier padel players we support and manage, please don’t hesitate to message me. I have met some amazing individuals this year through padel, especially the players and all those that are helping me open doors (R3 Sport players and team tagged below). There’s lots of work to do, but I am dedicated to working tirelessly for our players, brand, padel community and sponsors. It’s an honour to be named a representative for women in this sport and be part of this GB padel revolution! 2024 is already proving to be absolutely incredible for padel, as it’s quickly become the fastest growing sport in the country. This is really starting to take off and things can only get better for our players, R3 Sport and everyone involved in the padel community in Britain! New Insights: Sport England's First Annual Padel Participation Figures Following my previous post regarding monthly players, Sport England and Ipsos have published once-per-year participation rates for six racquet sports which I have captured in the image. Padel Participation in England The research found a base of 51,000 padel players taking part in the sport at least once in the year during the survey period ending November 2023. The highest participation rate was in southwest England, likely due to the concentration of indoor padel centres around Bristol. Participants were also asked when during the year they played these sports. The data shows a spike in padel and pickleball participation in the last three months to November 2023, suggesting that participation rises as more courts open and the opportunity to play increases. Revitalising Established Racquet Sports Annual participation numbers show that the four established racquet sports have all declined over the past seven years. If there are fewer occasional racquet sports players, there are fewer opportunities to convert them to more frequent players. Therefore sports governing bodies are now focusing on different formats, scoring systems, and new settings. Table Tennis England’s Ping project has provided 700 free outdoor tables across parks and other public spaces. Meanwhile, in tennis, The Park Tennis Project, supported by the UK Government and LTA Tennis Foundation, has invested £30 million to revitalise 1,800 public tennis courts across Britain. This initiative supports the LTA’s vision of 'Tennis Opened Up,' making the sport more accessible. My use of our two local park tennis courts has sustainably increased now they have been resurfaced and managed via the LTA ClubSpark booking platform. Padel and pickleball are therefore both playing a critical role in introducing people to a racquet sport for the first time and encouraging racquet players to experiment with emerging sports. My forthcoming UK Padel Report Recently, I invited UK Padel players to participate in a survey, now open. Share your motivation for playing padel and its impact on your health and well-being. https://lnkd.in/eztYWpWQ Strategic Partnership Opportunities with the UK Padel Report I would enjoy speaking with organisations that want to be associated with Oxygen Consulting’s forthcoming UK Padel Report, especially a padel centre operator, software provider and fitness equipment provider. This is an opportunity to position your business as a key strategic supplier to the sport. Sponsorship means the full report can be made available free of charge rather than behind a paywall. It is beneficial that robust and independent research is available for everyone wanting to grow padel across the UK. How do you see these emerging racquet sports helping to reinvigorate the established ones? What new formats are emerging? Please leave your comments.

We get to talk about padel to a lot of people at the moment: current and wannabe players of all ages and backgrounds, current site partners, potential new sites, planners, people in the padel industry and more. An enjoyable aspect of talking padel in the UK just now is that it has no ‘baggage’. In this country at least it’s pretty much a totally new sport: no stereotypes, social or cultural preconceptions. That’s so refreshing. Given notions of class and demographics, many sports, at least to some extent in most countries, carry with them certain ideas of who plays or follows them. Think of tennis, golf, rugby, cricket…all conjure up who – age, background, socio-economics – plays or follows that sport, is likely to go watch it or be a member of a club. Padel doesn’t have this, and to us that’s something to try to harness and promote. Padel’s accessibility is much celebrated – it’s so easy to learn and start playing. The challenge will be to make sure that stretches as far and wide as it can: to people who have never played racket sports, those who have fallen away from regular exercise, people looking to be active whilst being sociable, kids looking to try a sport that’s different and fun, and so on. Of course at the moment it’s often the case that people arrive to padel via tennis or squash. But after just half an hour of trying padel we’ve seen the surprise and delight of so many people who previously thought they can’t ‘do’ bat and ball. And padel’s fundamental qualities: it’s good exercise, highly social, great fun, are there from the 1st ball. Our aim at PadelStars is to make the very most of this accessibility: our target audience is everyone. Padel has the potential truly to be a sport for all
