𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗨𝗞 𝗣𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗹 🎾 In 2011 the first padel court landed on British shores. Thirteen years later we're home to c.450 courts. The sport is still very much in it's infancy. 👶 When asked about padel the majority of Brits tend to look slightly bemused before answering "ahhh... do you mean paddle boarding??". 😕 Yes, we need more courts, but having knowledgable and enthusiastic coaches championing the game, is just as important for padels' growth. 📈 Without further ado, PPUK are thrilled to announce a full complement of coaches at our Potters Bar courts - George Hollings and Searle Goott. 🎉

Take a look at Tracey Camilleri's blog on the social power of padel and pickleball - which resonates with the arguments in The Social Brain book (www.thesocialbrainbook.com) - 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬: I spent a few weeks over Christmas daily putting my husband’s left sock on for him. Partly as a result of his passion for padel (and over-competing with his son and future-son-in law), he was recovering from having half a new knee. The left sock eluded him. But it left me asking what is this madness that has latterly gripped my family and friends? In Europe, padel is predicted to grow annually by 26%. According to the USA Pickleball Association, pickleball has grown on average at 158.6% over the last 3 years and is taking off in Europe. It is apparently the fastest growing sport in the US. Apart from both being thoroughly great games – pickleball and padel have other secret social powers that fuel their success - read the rest of the blog here to find out why: #padel #pickleball #thesocialbrain https://lnkd.in/epYya8C3

🚀 The Pickleball Craze!!! #Pickleball isn't just a sport; it's a phenomenon. With over 4.8 million players in the U.S., reflecting a 39.3% increase over the last two years, it’s clear why we're seeing such an incredible surge in interest. 🇨🇦 According to the 2023 Pickleball Canada National Survey, over 300,000 Canadians actively participate in pickleball, making it one of the fastest-growing sports in the country, and shared by a diverse range of players from all age groups and backgrounds. As the craze sweeps across Canada, one name that has got a lot of buzz in our circles is Fairgrounds. Led by a couple of serial entrepreneurs, Matt Rubinoff and Drummond Munro, Fairgrounds isn't just playing the game—they're changing it. Their approach is a blend of sport, social interaction, and style, appealing to everyone from beginners to pros across all generations. They have also taken a contrarian approach to their club membership with a new model they are calling the "non-club, club", allowing everyone to partake. At Supership, we're proud to be the logistics backbone that supports Fairgrounds' rapid growth, both online and in retail (links in the comment to book or buy gear 👇 ). Our tailored solutions ensure that as Fairgrounds paves the way for the future of racquet sports, every piece of equipment and merchandise meets the needs of their expanding community efficiently and reliably. Personally I've caught the bug, lead by both my mother and father who are still kicking my butt, and I'll be there this Thursday evening. So if you're in the area drop in to check out Fairgrounds and give #Pickleball a try. Check out them out at: https://lnkd.in/ghkKqhhb

Dangerously Fit Offers Cutting-Edge Education and Fitness Equipment in the Area of Functional Strength, Using Unconventional Strength Training Tools to Develop Peak Physical Performance
Clubbell Mills: Should I Rotate the Hips & Pivot? (Part 2) If you're looking to build rotational strength for sports like golf, tennis, or combat sports that demand torque, incorporating hip rotation and foot pivots into your training can make a big difference. However, there's a trade-off. When swinging lighter clubbells, you can pivot your feet and hips freely. But with heavier clubbells, I find it's best to shift your weight in the opposite direction. This helps you stay balanced and maintain control, preventing the club from pulling you off-center. Very thought provoking article by Simon Briggs in the The Telegraph about the fight for control of both Padel and Pickleball. The feelings of many in the Padel community (even those from a tennis background) are captured by this quote: “I’ve had this conversation with everyone in padel from club operators to top players, juniors, parents and tournament directors. I get a pretty consistent message back: the LTA get in the way more than they help.” Like many, I have had to go through the "LTA hoops" to accredit as a coach with an organisation I have nothing to do with. And, if I want to become an accredited padel referee, I would first need to become an accredited tennis referee and then do a conversion course. This makes no sense and is just one example where padel is shoe-horned into the LTA process, contradicting the suggestion that "every team at the LTA is now delivering on both tennis and padel". As the article questions, is it because the LTA think it is "Better to keep the younger sports under control, ticking along without taking too big a bite out of tennis’s traditional player base"? It will be interesting to see how this develops in the coming months. I just hope we keep sight of the ultimate goal which is attracting more players to padel and pickleball and getting people active. With the recent news on mental health in the younger generation, we certainly need it! #padel #padelcrackers

Master Coach Educator; Professional Padel Coach; Head of Coach Education - The Padel School; Head of Coach Development - We Do Tennis; Content Developer; Mentor; Quality Assurance
Should Padel Coaches in the UK play competitions? There are many people getting qualified in the UK as Padel Coaches or Instructors through various providers. In my experience of delivering Padel coaching qualifications, I would say under 10% of attendees are competing at an appropriate level (outside of their clubs social events or fixed 4s). As we grow Padel in the UK, my opinion is that those interested in becoming a Padel Coach must play appropriate regional / national competitions to improve their own Padel and therefore knowledge of the game. Coaches can learn something from every event they play. There is no such thing as perfect Padel and a lot of times winning ugly is required! Only by playing competitions can Coaches really get under the skin of the game and be able to provide the best insight to their players. Do you agree? #padel #padelcoach #padeladdict #padelUK #padelgrowth #padeltennis #padelteacher #padeltutor

Head of Performance Coach Education & Development at LTA | Former GB Davis Cup Coach | Former Pro Tennis Player | EMCC Qualified Executive Coach
8 Performance Coaches came out to Barcelona with me last weekend for a clay court workshop hosted by the brilliant Juanma Anton and the Full Experience Academy Team. 3 main objectives of the trip: 1. To upskill the coaches and improve how they prepare their players more effectively in the transition to clay. 2. To provoke reflection of their own day to day programmes and how they might adapt some of the clay court training on hard courts to enhance player development. 3. To spend 3 quality days talking tennis, sharing experiences and learning from each other.
