Today we released a new policy paper on why USEPA Bruno Pigott should ban scrubber discharge. 🚢 🚫 Why? Because scrubbers don’t scrub – that’s a misnomer. They take pollution from the air and dump it into our oceans. 🌊 Scrubber discharge is toxic to marine life, even at very low concentrations and could have serious impact on the populations of key species of marine food webs as well as threatened and endangered species. 🐳 Why hasn’t USEPA acted on it? EPA proposed a rulemaking four years ago but didn’t act citing “insufficient data.” That’s why today, we rounded up 26 scientific papers to show the EPA that new science is available and scrubber discharge should be banned. ⛔ 🚫 Southeast Alaska Conservation Council (SEACC) Read here: https://bit.ly/3yPazR6

Well done PE, for this excellent overview. You would say: how much more do authorities need to know before they finally decide to stop this massive pollution in coastal waters
