As part of its Building Homes for NSW package, the NSW Government is investing $5.1 billion over 4 years to deliver new public homes for people in need. 🏘 This is the largest-ever investment by a NSW Government to build new, good quality public homes – and we’re ready to deliver. Working together with industry and the sector, we’ll use this money to fund the land purchase and construction of 8,400 new homes. Half of these homes will be targeted for victim survivors of domestic and family violence – because you can’t leave violence if you don’t have somewhere to go. Read more about this historic investment and how we’re leading the government’s work to confront the housing crisis at: https://lnkd.in/gAD_ps6x Shown here: our team at our Cowper Street Glebe project, which will deliver 75 new homes in inner-city Sydney. #NSWGovernment #SocialHousing #HousingCrisis #NSWBudget

How can we bridge the gap in affordable housing? Florida faces a growing challenge in providing affordable housing for its residents. The State and Local Government Housing Trust Funds are essential in addressing this issue. Each year, we advocate for maximum funding from these trust funds to support affordable housing programs. These efforts are pivotal in enhancing people's lives and ensuring a strong return on investment for our communities. Our focus is on demonstrating the value of these programs to lawmakers and securing the necessary funding to expand their reach. Additionally, the Florida Hometown Heroes housing program offers zero-interest downpayment and closing cost assistance. This is a fantastic resource for many—let's spread the word. Together, we can make a difference in solving the affordable housing crisis. #AffordableHousing #RealEstate #CommunitySupport #HousingTrustFunds #FloridaHousing

With the general election only a week away, and in the midst of both a housing crisis and a cost of living crisis, it is crucial for people to have secure, affordable homes. The UK's housing crisis affects us all, with too many families in temporary accommodation and too many people worrying about how they will afford to keep a roof over their heads. By focusing on housing, we can create stronger communities and ensure everyone has a place to call home. It’s time for the government to take housing seriously and make it a top priority. #PlanForHousing
Our deputy chief executive Helen Walsham (MBA, CMgr FCMI, FCIPD, PGCert) has a column in Inside Housing today on the critical importance of ensuring the housing crisis is at the top of the next government’s agenda. Thanks to Inside Housing for featuring Helen's thoughts. It echoes Flagship's whole vision - we're all about solving the housing crisis, but it's something that needs a joined-up approach with increased commitment and funding from the government to see that made a reality across the country. Planners and #policymakers are instrumental in overcoming the challenges of the #housingcrisis. This text does a good job of highlighting some crucial steps that #planners can take. Having said this, without serious #institutional #reform (as I advocate for in my article https://lnkd.in/esWxiekW) this crisis will not be overcome in the short term.
As planners, we can use our industry knowledge and expertise to work with communities to understand how best to address their affordable housing needs. My colleague, Lauren Lange, MCP MCIP RPP, an affordable housing specialist, has enunciated 10 areas where planners can work to address housing affordability. #Wearewsp #wspfutureready https://lnkd.in/gK2zBdSW

We are supporting the National Housing Federation’s #Planforhousing campaign. England is currently in a housing emergency, and if we don’t act now, then by 2030 every school in England will have an average 7 children who are homeless and living in temporary accommodation and 85 are living in overcrowded houses. As we head towards the next general election, we are calling for a plan to fix the housing crisis. What housing associations need is a long-term plan that is comprehensive and maps out policies, funding resources and ensures that they all point in the same direction. Dr Valerie Vaughan-Dick MBE FRCGP (Hons), Chair of Wandle’s Board said, “Wandle’s core purpose is to provide good quality, genuinely affordable homes in south London, for those who need them the most. “We’re supporting the National Housing Federation’s call for a long-term plan for housing. We want to work in collaboration with the next government to end the housing crisis and to make a real difference to people who need it most.” You can read more about the campaign here > https://lnkd.in/eyFXdCX8.

The NSW Government's 2024/25 Budget announced this week included a record spend on new social and affordable housing. The $6.6 billion Building Homes for NSW program will: Build 8,400 new public homes – giving priority to women and children fleeing violence. This is the largest ever investment by a NSW Government to build new, good quality, public homes. Half of these homes will go to victim survivors of domestic and family violence – because you can’t leave violence if you don’t have somewhere safe to go. Deliver more than 21,000 affordable and market homes. This program will help deliver 21,000 affordable and market homes across our state using well located land that is sitting empty and unused. The Building Homes Program will also deliver affordable rental homes for key workers so they can live where they work and be a part of the communities that rely on them. I was able to witness first-hand the impact of the UK's housing crisis by meeting a resilient single mother named Sarah, who is doing everything she can to keep a roof over her head and that of her children. Despite working tirelessly, she faces eviction due to skyrocketing rents. Sarah's story is a reminder of the leadership challenges we face in addressing this crisis and how we can make a change to ensure families like these have safe and affordable housing. Share your thoughts in the comments below and let's find solutions. #UKHousingCrisis #LeadershipChallenges #AffordableHousingForAll
