Covering all bases: Team publishes first-of-its-kind field guide on velvet ants

There is a fascinating natural phenomenon called "A murmuration of starlings," where thousands of starlings fly together in a swirling, ever-changing pattern. Interestingly, in this study, we also observe a similar phenomenon in the PCA plots of different glass compositions. Glass compositions from different periods seem to move collectively and rhythmically, much like the starlings. From the perspective of individual composition points, each manufacturer seems to gravitate toward the "safety in numbers" effect, while solitary points either "walk alone as predators" or indicate issues with composition or process.
