Is ‘Wholeness’ A Worthier Ambition Than ‘Wellness’? 🌿 Remember when the wellness movement began and it all seemed so positive? 🤗 Wellness was about reclaiming ownership of our own health and happiness. We were empowered to lay a foundation of our choosing - derived somewhat from try- and-see methods and sometimes also from a deeper knowing - to create our own bespoke system for holistic health that could strengthen physical and emotional resilience. 💪 And it was magical - simplistic, accessible and empowering. 🌟 For a while. And then the narrative changed. Less than a decade since we mainstreamed wellness we’re spotting villains in the story and the magic seems to be slipping away. But what happened to the wellness movement? And is it time to turn the page on wellness and commence a new chapter of wholeness? 💓 ‘Wholeness’ is being promoted by some former crusaders of the wellness movement and by modern philosophers (AKA podcasters/authors), such as Elise Loehnen and Krista Tippett, as well as artists, including Alanis Morissette. But what does wholeness mean? And is it a means to reclaiming autonomy over our physical, mental and emotional health, or is it destined to become another toxic fad? Prioritizing holistic wellness offers a sense of balance and harmony in a world that can often seem chaotic and overwhelming. It reminds us to slow down, to savor the present moment, and to nurture ourselves in mind, body, and spirit.
