School board elections will be held for districts across North Texas on May 4, 2024 with early voting running from April 22-30, 2024. Turnout for school board elections is often less than 10% of registered voters and many elections have been decided by fewer than 50 votes. BUT the outcome of these races has a tremendous impact on student outcomes and student experience in your district. So, it is critical to make an informed vote! Visit https://lnkd.in/gNkpr5Dt to see who is running to represent your district and access our candidate evaluation tool. It's Election Day TODAY! And although there are no state or federal races up for votes, there are a few local seats that are even more important to vote for! They may not be as popular, but the outcomes of local elections impact us much more in our a day to day lives than any other. If you want to have an impact on Barnstable's housing, economic, energy, infrastructure and education policies for the near future, We encourage you to take a few minutes today (Tuesday, November 7th) to vote for Town Council, School Committee and Housing Authority. There are 13 precincts in the Town of Barnstable and all 13 seats were up for a vote this year. You can find your precinct information here (https://lnkd.in/eSPN2uMv) and information on where to vote and who is running here (https://lnkd.in/eysayQTc). Only 6 of the Town Council seats are contested. The unopposed candidates automatically get in unless there is a write-in candidate. You can find out more about the candidates here (https://lnkd.in/e5PCkJWC)

Should 16 Year Olds Be Allowed to Vote in School Board Elections? Newark NJ may be on the verge of allowing 16 year olds to vote in school board elections not only to increase voter turnout but to allow students a voice in how their schools are managed. I believe that this can truly be an opportunity for additional student voice. However, I wonder how (or if) schools will - at the same time - find ways to embed board elections into the curriculum and/or school culture. As one commentator stated, without a student understanding of civics, this initiative will not improve turnout or lead to increased student voice in school board elections. See Chalkbeat story linked below. #schoolboards #studentvoice #schoolleadership #teachingandlearning #civiceducation

🇨🇿💝🇪🇺 Today, 21 May, is the first day of Studentske Volby (#StudentElections) for the #EUParliament. These mock elections, run by our colleagues JSNS, familiarise students with democratic participation before making real-life choices. 🗳️The Studentske Volby addresses one of the key problems facing many democratic states: that many people often lack first-hand knowledge and experience of #democratic processes. Through, mock elections, we help students to understand the role they play in the democratic process, understand their #rights and #responsibilities, and make active and informed choices about their futures. 🎉 We hope all students participating, find the election both enlightening and rewarding! 📚To learn more about Studentske Volby, see here (in Czech only): https://buff.ly/49Nmsn2 #ActiveCitizenshop #CivicParticipation, #DemocraticParticipation, #Education, #Election, #ElectoralProcess, #Future, #Students, #Voting,

Knowing your polling location just got a little easier. That’s because each ward now has only 1 polling place. * Ward 1: National Guard Armory at 2310 Brooklyn Drive. * Ward 2: Hibbing Memorial Arena at 400 E. 23rd St. * Ward 3: St. Archangel Michael’s Orthodox Church-Parish Hall at 710 40th St. * Ward 4: Irongate Plaza at 990 41st St. W. Due to the condensing of polling locations, each location will have an increased volume of election judges to assist voters and an increased volume of voting booths to provide a swift experience for voters. The reduction in volume of sites plus a slight reduction in the overall volume of judges to be employed on election days may result in a slight cost savings to the city.
