🙏🏾 Styleindi GmbH & Ancient Beauty Continues 🙏🏾 My #saveancientbeauty campaign has been running since July 5th, & today I am excited to share that, WE did it! The warehouse is NOT completely cleared out yet—there are still 2,379 products left (please keep ordering)—but out of the 6,000, you bought 3,621 Ancient Beauty products in just over a week. This is a testament to the power of transparency, authenticity and community. Instead of protecting “my image”, I embraced the full, unedited, sometimes grim truth of the entrepreneurial journey that many like to sugarcoat. I let my guard down completely to bear witness to something I truly believe in: human connection in business. From friends and acquaintances to complete strangers and even the Lexware company—you all showed up. In this process, I discovered a new layer to my integrity, even in adversity. I discovered my ability to expand my capacity & mobilize whatever I have, in a health crisis. At this point, put my face next to the word "resilience" in the dictionary. #FemaleFounderSupport bubble dissapointed. Some prominent faces of the movement in Germany went ghost when I directly asked for their support. Authentic support is more than appearances; it’s about building side by side, sharing resources, cheering, rallying & lending your platform - even if She is not your personal friend or to your benefit. To any investors that “jump ship” or that are quick to write founders off, I hope this shows that declaring someone’s startup dead prematurely might say more about your lack of “instinct” than the startup/founder. My case should show you that short-term crisis don’t tell an entire founders story. Depending on the FOUNDER & their COMMUNITY, alot can be achieved in two weeks with just a phone in a hospital bed; remember that! Entrepreneurship is a journey that only other entrepreneurs truly understand. The valleys can be unbearably low, and the mountain peaks so high they take your breath away. It can make you more stoic - fight to keep your human sparkle. Yes, entrepreneurship is a lot of pressure—especially when you built from scratch in a biased toxic environment—but it’s also deeply enlightening and rewarding. This #saveancientbeauty chapter is something I will tell my nieces, nephews, children, & grandchildren about with pride. In times when they feel helpless and alone, they can look to this story for hope. What happened to me in that hospital (misdiagnosis/misstreatment) can happen to any ethnicity, gender, age, class —anybody. Yet, stats show it happens exponentially more to WOMEN & BIPoC. I am both! May my decision to make a crisis in my journey a public teachable moment inspire many on their respective journeys to not lose hope or themselves in the process. How do you capture your entrepreneurial spirit in one image? This was the big question before my shoot for The Art of Enterprise with Oliver Doran. It was a privilige to be photogaphed by Oliver and I wanted to make sure the images captured 3 things that sum up my entrepreneurial journey so far. So how did we get from entrepreneurialism to me in a dressing gown, with a towel on my head, holding a glass of wine? 1. It's got to be fun! Everyone who is building a business knows that one day you're on top of the world and the next you feel like you're fighting fires around every corner. But over the last 4 years I've realised I have to enjoy the journey, and find the fun in it, otherwise what's the point?! 2. The BTS reality. It feels like I am always apologising to my business partner Alex Bond for being in my PJs, on the sofa, towel on head for our weekly Ink Blot catch ups. Our offices are great, but my best thinking often happens at random times and in random places. 3. Treat every interaction like opening night. My first career was in the theatre. And for your audience, every night has to feel like the very first time you're performing. I've taken these performance principles with me into our business. I don't want to show up with a smile on my face and be high energy, all the time, but when I feel like this, I just treat it like another opening night.
