We’re proud to be working with Dr. Ashvin Patel at Kennedy-White Orthopaedic Center in Sarasota, Florida, as part of the Synergy Disc US IDE 2-Level clinical trial. The trial is a multi-center, prospective, non-randomized, historically controlled study to demonstrate the Synergy Disc is at least as safe and effective as conventional anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) to treat cervical degenerative disc disease (DDD) in subjects who are symptomatic at two levels from C3 to C7 are and are unresponsive to conservative management. A total of 200 patients will be enrolled to the investigational group at a number of sites across the country. For more information on the trial, head to https://lnkd.in/ecX_9JEq CAUTION: In the US, the Synergy Disc is an Investigational Device limited by United States Law to Investigational Use only. #spine #orthopedic #clinicaltrial #cervicaldisc #artificialdisc

It is exciting to see companies like Xcelerated Recovery™ changing the way we think and practice in terms of peri-operative and injury recovery. Given that science behind the use of free form amino acids in the peri-operative period has become so strong, Raincross High Performance has incorporated the use of Xcelerated Recovery™ products on our recovery and perio-operative checklists for athletes recovering from injury and surgery. When you appropriately dose and time free form amino acids, as well as pair with rehab strategies like eccentric loads, Blood Flow Restriction (BFR), and prehab you tend to see excellent outcomes. Here's my prediction: In the next 5 years we will continue to see a plethora of clinical studies investigating the use of free form amino acids impacting athlete recovery, and Xcelerated Recovery™ will continue to be at the forefront in this space. #highperformance #recovery #perioperative

For our very first LinkedIn post, we want to acknowledge Osteoporosis Awareness Month. Osteoporosis is a leading cause of the fractures orthopaedic surgeons treat. This month, we’ll share important information about bone health and how to prevent osteoporosis. First, let’s cover the stats on osteoporosis!

🌟 Multidisciplinary management of spinal pain 🌟 Managing spinal pain involves a team of interventional radiologists, anesthesiologists, orthopaedic surgeons, and neurosurgeons. Identifying and treating specific pain generators through patient history, clinical exams, and imaging is crucial. 🏃 Understanding Physical Therapy Initiation and Associated Outcomes 🏃 Physical therapy (PT) initiation timing has been associated with length of stay (LOS) and range of motion (ROM) improvements. A study conducted on three groups with different initiation times analyzing outcomes including ROM and LOS for the groups. Following a total knee arthroplasty (TKA) the three initiation times included sub-12, 12-24, and 24-48 hours. The study includes 569 patients. Patients who had initiated PT prior to 24 hours experienced better LOS (4.87 v. 5.34 days) and ROM than the 24-48 hours group. As we continue with earlier initiation of PT we find the law of diminishing returns affecting the outcomes. The group that initiated PT sub-12 hours did not find a significantly better outcome for LOS than the 12-24 group. All of the groups complication rates do not differ. The need to improve post-operation outcomes is important to help with the strain on healthcare and reduce costs. Ultimately, regardless of the exact time that a patient starts PT one thing remains true that starting early is good. Deciding whether sub-12 or 12-24 hours is the right choice depends on resources. As there isn't a significant clinical difference noted, one isn't necessarily proven better than the other. #healthcare #innovation #medicine Study by: Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research: Total knee arthroplasty: does ultra-early physical therapy improve functional outcomes and reduce length of stay? 📷 by: Lewisville

An ageing population and modern lifestyle conditions in developed countries have greatly increased the case numbers for #hiparthroplasty. To prevent complications, it is important for orthopaedic surgeons to identify high-risk patients and take proper precautions. Experts Prof Dieter Christian Wirtz and Prof Ulrich Liener discussed this topic at the Heraeus Medical DKOU symposium. Check out the summary of the symposium on the medical news platform “Healthcare in Europe” https://lnkd.in/gPxFFZ58

PRP is beneficial in specific scenarios and might be more effective than corticosteroids and HA in certain conditions. However, the differences in how PRP is prepared and the protocols for its use will continue to be its downfall in clinical research and patient outcomes. "Among the studies utilizing PRP for treatment of musculoskeletal/orthopedic pathologies, less than 20% provided a clear, well-described, and reproducible PRP preparation protocol, and only one-fourth of studies reported on the final PRP product composition." #prptherapy #prp #orthopedics #pain #injection
