The adults in custody at the Oregon State Penitentiary recently participated in a four-day training provided by New York University’s Center on Violence and Recovery. The “Circles of Peace” training was designed for AICs who have been involved in Restorative Justice work and can serve as facilitators for future trainings alongside volunteers. The training focuses on interrupting the cycle of domestic and family violence. #ODOC #DOC #OSP #Salem #Oregon #CirclesOfPeace #RestorativeJustice

On September 18, 2024, the Latino Club at the Oregon State Penitentiary held a celebration in honor of National Hispanic Heritage month. Complete with cultural and traditional décor, food, and presentations, this event is one of the largest and most highly anticipated events of the year. As the Latino Club mission statement reads, “Most importantly, we emphasize the importance of making amends to the communities from which we were removed, encouraging our members to give back in every way possible.” #ODOC #DOC #OSP #Salem #Oregon #celebratinghispanicheritage

Recently, the Native American Community at Snake River hosted their third annual Powwow. The cultural celebration, which welcomed family members, guests, and representatives from Red Lodge Transitional Services. Among the honored guests was Ms. Shana Radford, the Native American Liaison from the Governor’s Office. The event featured a rich program of traditional Native American activities, including sacred meals of salmon and elk, alongside berry soup, and fry bread. It was a day filled with joy, celebration, and reflection. Native American AICs were integral to the event, presenting a beautiful ceremony of dance, song, and drumming. Throughout the year, they worked diligently on creating artwork and beadwork, which were gifted in appreciation to the representatives of Red Lodge and Ms. Radford. We extend our gratitude to everyone who made this event possible: Captains King and Parks, Security Staff, Executive Team, Ms. Claus and her team, and Food Service staff. Their dedication helped to ensure the success of this meaningful gathering. #ODOC #DOC #SRCI #Ontario #Oregon #powwow #culturalcelebration

In 2023, Warner Creek Correctional Facility upgraded its soccer and football fields by purchasing used astroturf at an exceptional deal. The project involved careful research, planning, and teamwork to ensure the new surface could withstand the Lakeview weather conditions. We successfully completed the installation just in time for the WCCF Car and Bike Show, allowing us to showcase the new fields to participants, visiting friends, and family members. #ODOC #DOC #WCCF #Lakeview #Oregon #lakeviewweather #soccer #football
