My first CardioMEMS implant procedure! The #Abbott CardioMEMS system offers a significant advancement in patient care, allowing for proactive management and reducing hospital readmissions through remote monitoring of Pulmonary Artery pressure. Remote monitoring allows alternations in medical management thus, improving patients' quality of life and keeping them out of the hospital and subsequently, reducing the mortality associated with heart failure hospitalisation. Since heart failure is a progressive disease, identifying when medical management of HF decompensates, allows physicians to use appropriate advanced treatments for advanced HF in suitable timing. The video below shows the CardioMEMS sensor implanted in a patient in the left descending pulmonary artery, for reference, the sensor is the same size as a paperclip. #CardioMEMS #HeartFailure #InnovationInHealthcare #Cardiology #PatientCare #HealthcareTechnology
