With this being Mental Health Awareness Month, we highlighted spreading the message regarding those that we serve that are dual diagnosed.. It's important for the public to be made aware that our population can, at times, be looked upon as "already being served," or "they have IDD, this is what they are suffering from." Please note, there is no such thing as "suffering from" when someone has a diagnosis of IDD (Intelletual and Developmental disabilities). Those with IDD are born with this disability. There is no particular medical treatment, however, there is additional services that can be rendered to ENHANCE their lives. On the other hand, those dual diagnosed are suffering with a Mental illness, and need further treatment for that (or those) additional diagnosis.
