These layoffs have left a LOT of good talent on the market. REALLY good talent. So things are competitive right now, not just for applicants but for companies too. One issue I started to notice that stood out to me was QUOTA. Many very experienced AEs, BDRs and SDRs are paying a LOT more attention to that now. They're having backchannel convos with current reps and one big question is buzzing: "How many of your reps are hitting quota?" If that percentage is low, repeat after me: I HAVE A PROBLEM. You can't attract top talent with inflated OTE if it's completely unattainable for most reps. But what can help is the TOOLS you equip your reps with so that they can make those fantasy figures more of a reality. Take your dialer, for instance. One of the things I love the most about working in a startup is the "all hands-on deck" attitude. When something needs to be done - Everyone pitches in. This week we are moving to a new office - a bigger one that will give us room to expand (did I mention that we are #hiring? Look at the Lidwave page for details) - and everyone helps with the moving. I am always excited to listen to owners who sold their companies on what were their takeaways - the good, the bad & everything between. Few weeks ago I listened to Mr. Milan Kuster about how he sold his company Lunos to a British corporation - Volution group & became director of I-Vent (rebranded Lunos). Mr. Kuster explained: "During the sales process, I realized that I did not want to sell the business. It was a big personal dilemma when I became aware of this. It is best to sell the share and leave the company. I stayed, which was my personal decision, but it wasn't the easiest." Beside from the financial and legal part of such a deal I'm always interested observing how negotiations went and what was the psychological aspect like. This I'm realy passionate about. Because in M&A, if the deal fails, it is mostly not about financials & legal - it may seem so, but is not. Fears, pressure, the unknown .... are the real deal breakers. I haven't ever done this before, it's a first in my sales career. Two 100K deals inked within a 24 hour period. One being a multi-billion dollar global org! To be fair, "I" didn't do a lot. "We" as in the entire team at Skye collectively landed two remarkable customers this week where we will be #coaching a group of their senior leaders! It is probably one of the greatest feelings in my career up to this point. Have I closed larger deals? Yes. But, none more meaningful than these two. We are an 8 person team that is out here battling and going up against competitors legit 100X our size, so these just feel good! If you have ever worked for a seed stage startup, then you know the feeling. If not, just picture one of the biggest moments in your career and that is what it feels like! I am so dang proud of us, we will celebrate and then go try and do it again. Actually, let's take the "try" out. We WILL do it again. P.S. - This picture was from our last team outing in Wyoming, up next is California in a couple of weeks and our we are growing by a few more people!
