Kathleen Aller's personal story reminds us of the importance of improving healthcare access and outcomes. 🏥 Read her insightful blog on the challenges we're addressing in the industry. 📖👇 #healthcareit #data #blogpost #healthcareinnovation
We all have stories about what motivates us. For those of us in healthcare, it is often the experiences of friends and family from our own lives that supply the “why.” One of Kathleen Aller's motivators is the young family friend “Evan” who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer during the summer between his first and second years of college. Fortunately for Evan, he was able to connect with, and have his care managed by, one of the world’s experts on his condition. But Evan wanted to receive care close to his home, and his care manager practiced hundreds of miles away. Evan’s story turned out well – 10 years on, he is cancer free. But Kathleen continues to keep his story fresh in her mind, because it highlights several of the challenges we are still addressing as an industry. Her parents' concern, seeing her struggle with stairs, led them to the Washington Hospital Emergency Department. Today, people marks #WorldCancerDay with message that unite us all #CloseTheCareGap Closing the gap in cancer care is crucial because half the world’s population lacks access to the full range of health services. When it comes to cancer, the equity gap is a reality for all countries everywhere, high- and low-income alike, and negatively affects people from all walks of life. At the same time, we live in a time of huge and inspiring advancements in cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment. And where there is progress, there is #hope. When people unite, and when individuals innovate and collaborate across borders, change is within reach. We can close the gap. This year, add your voice and be part of the change. #AsOneForPatients #OneMerck

1moCommander Williams is among the most positive, intense, and strategically oriented leaders for whom I had the privilege to work. While working in his sphere of influence, I got to hear a portion of his journey through a dark time. The attitude, determination, and perseverance he demonstrated are inspirational, and I would encourage anyone who has the opportunity to listen to him speak, to do so. Nothing but love and respect!
