We end a chapter in music history. The last album from legendary musician Childish Gambino has been released and has received critical acclaim from the masses. He leaves a legacy that many have built upon, inspiring many to start their own musical journeys and transform their musical styles. An authentic talent from a person that has many talents to speak of, whether it be directing and acting or being a producer and artist, Childish Gambino is in a league with the likes of Pharrell and many others, rising above the majority of talents with his cultural impact and prowess. I think this record emulates his last thoughts being in the music industry this long, the trials and errors, the lessons, and then realisations that happened through out his career, from songs like In the Night to No Excuses (this song being reminiscent of his ep Summer Pack) really tying to his music legacy track by track with meticulously placed features that make this record what it is. Donald Glover (Childish Gambino) spoke about his departure from music, saying, “There’s nothing worse than like a third sequel, like a third movie, and we’re like, ‘again?’” from his interview with Revolt Magazine, referring to his music becoming "expected" and dragged out when that's not his true intention. I think musicians can learn from this and really reflect, knowing when to stop. As in, talent and creativity will always be there, but when the feeling and authenticity leave, you should follow them and not force your art, because forceful art is the downfall of any great artist. #musiclegacy #unmatchedtalent #culturalicon #endofanera #youngtalent #creativeways #musicanmindset #knowingwhentostepback

“Music brings people together. It allows us to experience the same emotions. People everywhere are the same in heart and spirit. No matter what language we speak, what color we are, the form of our politics or the expression of our love and our faith, music proves: We are the same.”~ John Denver ~ One of the ways I hope to unite others with Hope & Love Radio is through one of its unique radio shows: Songs in Different Languages, which plays on Wednesday at 12pm PST. Essentially, this radio show consists of cover songs of our popular hits, but in different languages. Some of the songs are My Heart Will Go On in Greek, Open Arms in Spanish, Without You from Rent in Icelandic, and many many more. I believe hearing these well known songs in different languages has the capacity to remind us that we truly are the same. Listening to familiar lyrics, for example, has the power to elicit the same emotions, regardless of the language the song was sung in. Not only that, we tend to endure the passion felt by the musical artists when they are performing, wouldn't you agree? This instance alone has the ability to bond us together, again regardless of the language sung because of the artist's intent. For example, If the artist was trying to portray happiness, we would experience that happiness. Or, on the other hand, if the artist was trying to portray heartbreak, we would experience that sadness instead. It’s amazing how this actually comes into play, but it does. Over and over again….. As humans, we really do carry all the same attributes, and all the same emotions. So, by listening to songs in different languages, if only for a second, can be the start to break down some of the barriers that separate us. Consequently, it can be the key to commence unification. That being said, Tune in, enjoy, and let’s start breaking down those walls. Hope to see you there. Also, Hope & Love Radio is having two amazing end of year contests. The Elephant in the Room...The Truth Hurts. "Every single one's got a story to tell Everyone knows about it From the Queen of England to the Hounds of Hell" - Seven Nation Army, The White Stripes Let's face it, music industry folks get it wrong often. But mistakes and getting it wrong are key and crucial to learning and getting it right. We all have stories. When I was at V2 back in the day, went with Jeremy Pearce etc to see The White Stripes for the first time as we were looking to sign them in a big deal. They had just independently released their "White Blood Cells" album. I liked them but wasn't 100% convinced especially with the weight of the deal. Thankfully the rest of the crew saw the potential, V2 signed them, and the album they delivered, the mighty "Elephant" (featuring "Seven Nation Army") ended up being one of our label's biggest successes and The White Stripes ended up being one of my favourite groups ever. The Lesson? Surround yourself with the greatest team of really talented authentic smart music people you can find, so if you slip up and make a mistake, the others won't, and you'll all win. The big question is, what will the UK Music industry choose to learn from Raye? “Raye’s six Brit awards marked a huge vindication for the newly independent artist and rightly shamed the major label that apparently couldn’t see her potential”. #music #musicbusiness #ukmusic #truth #womenentrepreneurs #womeninmusic #musicindustry #lessonslearned
Raye’s record-breaking Brits defied the limited imaginations of the British music industry

In a recent publication of Forbes' 30 Under 30 list, Bad Bunny was named one of the most important and recognized artists of his generation. His musical creations have become global hits, and he was the first Latin artist to headline the Coachella music festival in April 2023. He did it singing only in Spanish. The controversy surrounding the title "King of Pop" that Forbes assigned to Bad Bunny is understandable. For years, the only "King of Pop" was Michael Jackson, who passed away in 2009. Even with his multiple industry awards, global influence and visibility, and streaming records, many social media users opposed this designation for Bad Bunny. Comments such as "The day Bad Bunny has 1% of the talent to sing, dance, produce, and compose at the level of Michael Jackson, we'll discuss the title of 'King of Pop,'" "Bad Bunny doesn't sing pop," or "I think it's a total disrespect that Forbes qualifies Bad Bunny as the King of Pop when there is clearly only one, the GREAT MICHAEL JACKSON" are all hostile towards Bad Bunny. Regardless of the controversy, it is very relevant to point out the influence and global recognition that Bad Bunny has today. Whether his music is liked or not, his success in the industry is undeniable, as is his effort to position Puerto Rico and Latin music at the center of the global discussion. For his tremendous influence and outstanding career, Bad Bunny is among the kings of today's music, perhaps not at the level of Michael Jackson... yet. But someday, he could be. What do you think of Bad Bunny's impact on the music industry? #WeAreConquista #MusicIndustry #Latinos #LatinMusic #Business #30Under30 #KingOfPop

I confess: I'm one of those few who do not know ANY lyrics of Burna Boy's music😩. But this is not about music choice. It's about art. 💯And when it comes to Africa’s creative arts and design industry, you have my full attention. If we're talking numbers, the #Music market in #Africa is projected to grow by at least 11.48% (2022-2027) resulting in a market volume of US$49.37m in 2027, according to Statista. It would be remiss not to recognize Burna Boy's exploits in putting African music on the map. Check out his performance at the 66 #grammyawards.
